Yeah, the episode "Family", S4 ep 2. Picards brother and nephew both appear.
And are played by completely different actors, which makes it kinda hard to feel the loss that strongly.

Same, I would’ve probably just tweaked the battle scene to either provide some more context (why weren’t the shields remodulated, did the first hit prevent them from doing so?) and maybe swap out that BOP for a Vor’cha.
If they would’ve added this scene as well it would’ve been pretty amazing.
I like all the original 10 Trek movies, they have varying strengths but always were entertaining.
I have hated Generations since I first saw it. Killing Kirk was simply unforgivable. I was also not a fan of them killing Picard's Brother and Nephew along with destroying the Enterprise D. Plus the constant changes between TNG and DS9 uniforms. It is my least favourite Star Trek movie pre 2009.
I see no reason to have killed Kirk, as I watched the movie for the first time I kept thinking how I could not wait to see Kirk onboard the Enterprise D, meeting Riker and the rest of the crew but then...... I remember my late partner became a huge TOS fan thanks to me, not so much the 24th Century Trek shows, just TOS and movies, she had never seen Trek before. We watched TOS then started with TMP onwards etc. Got to Generations, then at the end she looked at me and said "BUT, what happens to Kirk, surely he survives?" I had to say NO that was it and they simply killed him off. I won't ever watch Generations again, to be honest that movie went a long way to killing the whole TNG era for me.

Nice! I fully intend to watch the entire series and have definitely heard about the Best of Both Worlds storyline being really popular.
I don't mind the idea in principal, but he really deserved a MUCH more epic sendoff than the movie gave him. But among it's many other issues, the entire fight between Picard, Soran and Kirk just looks so incredibly cheap and slapped together. And like something out of a low-budget scifi movie from the 90s.

I was cringing at how cheap the D crash landing looked in theaters, straight out of Power Rangers.
Yeah it's odd to complain about blubbering Picard. I mean his brother and kid nephew died. That's pretty affecting...

I felt the same with what they did to Picard in Picard S1. I guess they figured that it was the end of the line for the TOS crew and they figured “what the hell, let’s do this”. They pulled the same with Data in Nemesis and that was devastating, yet 20+ years later we had a TNG reunion. Crazy.
Have you watched Picard S3? Without giving anything away, there’s a scene that references Kirk which lead us to believe that the events in Generations may not be the end of his story.
For a second I thought someone was complaining about Picard's breakdown in the vineyard.
Makes me well up every time, and that combined with Best of Both Worlds was when TNG elevated itself to the best Trek series, something it still is to this day.

I did not like them killing Data in Nemesis, he was my favourite TNG character. I have not watched Picard Season 1 or 2, won't ever do so. I have seen Season 3 and noticed that.

Interesting to see though it didn’t make much sense. I don’t see Paramount sanctioning a Shatner return.

I wasn't a fan of Kirk's death, but I'd also hate to see them undo it.
It would, from a narrative standpoint, undercut every single death, because at some point they could just reverse it.
Yes, Data, but as an artificial life form that's kind of a given.
Just like I'd hate for them to find a way to "save" Pike, as much as I adore Anson Mount's portrayal.

I don't think I'd actually mind Pike finding a way to avert his fate somehow in SNW. The only cannon repercussions of that would be to deprive Vena of her Boy Toy (easily replicable) and the Talosians some gratification in toying with Humanity that much more.
I mean, since Pike is (in the SNW timeline) fully aware of his fate, it would seem odd and out of character for him not to seek a way out of it while also preventing the timeline damage that was also foretold to him. And that story arc could actually be INCREDIBLY RIVETING if written well! Just THINK of it!
Would make for A HELL of a Series Finale for instance!

Spock's death was done fairly well.
I think one thing that makes those ones done well is they didn't have lore in the future that says they're dead. It would make no sense to prevent Pike's fate and would butterfly effect everything. I won't say it's impossible. But I'm sick of heroes finding ways out of EVERYTHING. It's boring and is a bit too fantasy for me.
Like if they did a Star Trek: Sisko show... everyone would want Jadzia back. But should you? I'm sure there's some scifi way to have both Ezri and Jadzia. But really, shouldn't the heroes have SOME consequences and feeling of permanence?

I guess I have to disagree on the “too fantasy” idea. Once you have in the cannon that you can 100% know your future because a Time Chrystal let you live it, and future versions of yourself can visit you in the present and warn you about danger in the timeline, we’re already in fantasyland, and the very idea of permanence dissolves into the ether.
And if someone told you for certain that you will die two weeks from Tuesday, and if you don’t die bad things will happen, unless your name is Jesus, it’s just not believable that you wouldn’t do anything and everything in your power to prevent it. If you don’t, then THAT’S Fantasyland.
And as for timeline repercussions, it stands to reason that if the absence of one man in the timeline can prevent disaster on an epic level, then one man (with full knowledge of these events) could make the choices to prevent it as well with open eyes.
But at the end of the day, we’re talking about a sci-fi TV show where just about anything is possible. I wouldn’t worry too much about concrete ideas of life and death. It’s all about making engaging entertainment. I get the idea that if death can be reversed, then is there actually such a thing as risk and danger, but it all comes down to the writing. If they attempt to delve into these ideas with a subpar script, then it’s gonna be cheesy as hell and get all of our eyes to roll. But if they do it well, it could be epic and special along the lines of Best of Both Worlds and Yesterday’s Enterprise.
But yeah, we should for sure bring Jadzia back……

Wasn't the Mirror Jadzia still alive by the end of the series? They could always bring her over. Or do another Yesterday's Enterprise type thing where the past is altered so that she never died.
