Pretty good movie!
It was a great idea for them to do one of the spin-off Pokemon games before tackling a live-action Ash, Team Rocket, etc. If they did that and the movie bombed, it would've been "another lousy video game movie adaption".
At least this allowed them to play it smart with characters that didn't have great expectations or a huge fandom behind them...and they did a really, really good job with it. Apparently a sequel is in works already.
