CHAPTER 4:The war began.

Section3: :The outbreak of war

Honesty is the first casualty of war

The 7 of Spades, Harry, was a mercenary in his early years. Survived from the battlefield, he went back to England and started to take some temporary jobs for hire. During one job he took several bullets, but was saved by Ogier, the J of Spades. Since then Harry followed the Spades family. With gratitude to Ogier, he was full of loyalty and valor, and got promoted in the family. He is also the man who watched Ada, the 6 of Spades, to grow up and always cared for her.

Years spent in the battlefields and mob wars have made Harry a calm, decisive, thorough and fearless soldier. He had some bad feelings about this random deal, suspected that 3 and 4 might already be dead. He tried to dissuade Ada from rash actions, but could not stop her. All he can do was taking best measures to protect her. Harry made his own preparations for this deal.

The deal site is wide open, there are many places to hide, and easily got surrounded by the enemy. Six people including Ada are going to enter the site, equipped with semi-automatic weapons and grenades. One more person is located around the sniping position of the 5 of Spades as protection. On the peripheral roads there will be four SUVs securing two separate evacuation routes, all equipped with automatic weapons, providing cover for the final extraction. A total of twelve people was arranged for this mission, to minimize the loss should anything unexpected happens. Knowing that the Aces family is not trustworthy, Harry has made some modifications to the suitcase carrying cash. There are only two layers of dollars on the top; A Remington 870 shotgun is fixed inside a disguised frame underneath, fully loaded.

The sky is cloudy, not a single sunlight ray could penetrate the haze; the air is damp and cold, rain is drizzling. Two Land Rovers drive into the sawmill, Harry and Ada walks out of the car along with others. Deal is set inside one of the wooden cabins. Harry turns around and tips Ada with a wink, instructing her staying outside, then enters the cabin alone.

Inside the cabin is Juarez, the 3 of Aces, lies back in a chair, with both feet on top of the desktop; besides him are two Mexican underlings. Juarez stands up with his iconic cunning face, opens his arms showing a welcome gesture. Harry walks to the desk, put down the suitcase full of “cash” vertically, aiming the hidden gunpoint directly at Juarez. He opens the suitcase timely and reveals the cash in plastic wrapping, leaving Juarez no time to inspect.

“Rain is heavy, I’m worried about the ink on my new printed bills”, Harry teases. “Where are my men?”

Juarez returns a ghastly smile and makes a signal to his men, one of them picks up an intercom and opens up the window, everyone see those two body bags being carried out of the opposite cabin.

“Sorry, body bags are kind of expensive”, says Juarez with apparent sarcasm, while he picks up a knife slowly cutting open the plastic wrapping. As he is about to take out a stack of cash, his right hand is clamped by Harry’s left. Reacts fast, Juarez draws out another knife with his left hand towards his opponent, but the move is blocked by his own right arm, which is pressed down by Harry. Harry then drags Juarez towards himself, while his right hand already inside the suitcase pulls the trigger. A cloud of blood bursts out of the Mexican’s back, and his body hits the ground. Harry does not slow down; he grabs the knife on the table which Juarez used to cut the wrapping and sticks it right into the throat of the Mexican nearby reaching out to his gun. Smoothly, Harry pushes the spurting body of the Mexican into another and presses the later against the wall, then fires the Mini-Uzi hanging in his waist; Two Mexican underlings fall down into the pool of their own blood. All this finishes within several blinks of an eye, before eager Spanish inquiries come out of the intercoms on the ground.

A RPK machine gun suddenly appears at the opposite window as Harry picks up the intercom, the next second bullets are whizzing through the cabin like pouring rain. Harry kicks town the lumber table promptly as cover, then he hears varies gunfire outside. He reaches Baron on the phone, orders him to cover Ada retreating through the woods. Baron takes down targets locked by his scope one by one, but he cannot get a clear shot at the machine gunner hiding in the opposite cabin. Then he sees a rocket with long white trails, flying towards Harry’s cabin.

“RPG!!!” Baron’s yelling comes out of the phone. Harry jumps back immediately through the back window, then the whole cabin explodes in front of him. Smoke and fire blows Harry away, almost like in slow motion. Drumming in the ear and foggy in his eyes, Harry cannot hear anything and barely sees; Wood chips pierce deeply into his body, and blood is pouring out of enormous number of wounds. He vaguely sees Ada in distance being dragged away by other people, bullets whistling past him, then a Spade family member rushes over and drags him to the back of a pile of lumber.

Several men of the Aces family are outflanking towards that pile of woods…

I'm going with Clive Owen.

Also. . . DAM, please stop with the hard molded boots. It's impossible to get action shots without ankle articulation.

yea thats Clive owen. will be coolif they made Benicio Del Toro & bradpitt interpretation

Juarez ! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!:horror

looks cool. kinda tired of the the olgier saves them so they are now loyal to olgier repeating storyline.

bet this comic will be great tho.:yess:

Y'know -- that's actually pretty awesome looking. I initially wrote off this line as a one-and-done outlier. But, if there were a particular Clive Owen figure I wanted, I'd be in for this. They seem to be getting a pretty solid group of guys here.

Here's hoping they expand the line to stylized gangster-looking guys from crime drama's that I'm more in the market for. There are some great characters with little chance of getting made by someone like Hot Toys that'd be really great in this style -- Jules Winnfield, Vincent Vega, Tyler Durden, Walt White, Boyd Crowder, Anton Chigurh, Raylan Givens, Jax Teller, Vic Mackey, Tony Soprano, etc.

I like the suitcase will go good with a fashion doll lolz

I also like the outfit and everything...except for the body. I don't like any of these DAM bodies.

I'm loving this line. Reminds me of my childhood and watching The Thunderbirds. Loved those puppets. It was like a live action show with 1/6 scale action figures. These figures have character.

This guy just hit the States. Here's some pics and my thoughts.

Each Gangsters Kingdom figure has three things about it that really stand out.

1) The Headsculpt
2) The Coat
3) The Bag

This time out, Spade 7 is based on Clive Owen, we haven't heard much from him in a few years. I wonder what he's up to? As with the past few releases, the neck is protected by a plastic sleeve to prevent dye transfer. The headsculpt as is, is nicely done. Despite the "simple" look of the head, it's actually very detailed, with it's exaggerated features, deep crevices and such. I'm kind of amazed that they're able to fully paint the eyes, sticking a paint brush under those huge brows.

The coat looks interesting, but to me, it's ultimately frustrating. It has a wire running from top to bottom, so you can do the windswept thing, a bit. What it really lacks is a wire around the bottom to crease it and hold it back. It has a fur collar, which originally I thought was removable, it's held on with tiny plastic snaps, but sewn on around the back of the collar. So, you can "pop" the collar, and let the fur 'wings' fly free?? I'm not sure what's up with that design, but I was never into fashion, so maybe it's a European thing. I was hoping to be able to remove the fur collar altogether, but that's not happening. The coat does score big points for not having a big, garish embroidered logo like some of the other Spade coats. It appears as though DAM has dropped the emblem aspect of the GK mythos, which is nice. It just didn't fit in with the real world aspect of the clothing.

Ultimately, with the fur collar, the zip-up shirt AND the scarf, he ends up really bulky around the neck area. Too many layers. Also, the plastic snaps. I hate them, once you un-snap, you can never re-snap, because they bend. It's nice that they're low profile and not as unsightly as big metal snaps, but they're just too fragile, and they're not sewn on securely. I wanted to button the middle button, because that's just what you do, you never button the top button. But I can't, because the snap is bent. So, minus points for that.

What I want to see manufacturers start using is a metal loop that hooks onto a thread. Sideshow used it on Henry Jones' vest, and I think it works well, as it's durable, and low profile.

The bag is the real stand-out of this set, as it really tells its own story. The GK Saga, up to this point has seen Diamonds 2 & 3 capture Spade 3 & 4 and hold them for ransom. Spade 6 instructs Spades 7 and 5 to make the exchange. So, Spade 7 tries the ol' shotgun in the money bag trick as he suspects foul play. They way DAM has pulled this off works as flawlessly as it could. The shotgun is nicely detailed including a tiny Remington Model 870 stamp on it. It comes with an elastic strap that velcros in place in the bag, it lines up perfectly with the hole on one end of the bag. The "fake" money box is made of a very thick, durable paper stock, it almost feels like a magnet. This box fits over the shotgun contraption and you can lay the extra stacks of money on top, and it looks fairly convincing as far as sixth scale goes. Of course, once you pull out the extending handle on the other end and tip it up, the money slides off the box, but whaddayagonnado? But otherwise, it's made of a nice faux snakeskin material, the leather accents on it are nicely weathered, the wheels rotate and it has a hard plastic bottom. It all looks very convincing.

P1030858.jpg

P1030862.jpg

Just a few other notes. . .

The hand sculpts this time, match the same blocky style of the heads. The last few gloved hand sculpts were regular "human" style, which I thought was odd, normal hands with stylized heads. Looks like this time, they remembered. But they're still well sculpted with nice details with a subtle leather grain texture. The inside of the wrist includes a nice button closure. You don't see that sort of detail every day. You get four hands with this release, which is one extra than usual. We get a left and right trigger hand, one open grip for holding the cell phone, and one close grip for grasping the bag handle.

The boots like previous sets, very well done, but cowboy style and hard plastic, so you only get rotation out of them, and I strongly dislike them. They're a great sculpt, but useless other than that. I want to get these guys in action poses, but I can't because their ankle joints are restricted.

The scarf, like the Spade J Memories version, is wired to create moody action shots. It's a nice bonus, but it's hard to make it look like it's naturally blowing in the wind. I'd much rather have something that just lays flat naturally. But it's an interesting checkerboard pattern, that gets points for being a unique piece, and not just an afterthought.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a well thought out figure with nice details. I get frustrated with the little things like the plastic snaps and the hard plastic boots.
