Thanks Very Chris, really appreciate the kind words from one who`s work I admire.

Just a little update on the U.N.S.C. Marine Torso armour.

I have added an Earth Magnet to the Assault rifle and will be doing this to the rest of the weapons I have.

Plan on having Metal on the back of the O.D.S.T. Marines and also thighs too.

Anyway back to the armour.

I have added Buckles that secure front and rear together.

I used plasticard to make the shoulder armour and also metal for the rear back piece and something for the weapons to magnetise too.

Got Leonidas finished.

To remind you this is how it started with the Neca 12" statue

This is My custom 1/6 King Leonidas, Frank Millar "300" style.

I think a wholly improved piece indeed
Main thing to do but never done anything like that is change the plume to a real one.
May consider getting the HT Butler head sculpts and helmet sometime.

So to recap what I have done:-

1 NECA Leonidas 12" figure. Dremelled of the grieves, arm armour. Used the weapons, shield, heads of the NECA figure.

1 ACI ANDREW body.

I Made: Cloak, Sandals with Leather strapping, Leather harness, Leather pants ,Cloak broach, Tooth pendant.

Repainted all the armour and then weathered them and the cloak too.
Also added matching scar to the un-helmeted head as well.

I never really " got into " Space:AaB at the time of broadcast , though I watched a few episodes and thought it was o.k ( Loved the design work though ). It's a show that I'd definitely want to catch up on , but I've never seen it available on DVD !
Great figure , by the way and that Warthog is looking better and better . Is that sections of styrene sheet ? How did you work out the plans ? And how will you be proceeding , will you just rub/smooth it all out or will you sculpt over the top ?

SAAB I loved from the get go and was so gutted when they cancelled. However they did no favours playing it inconsistent times each week :/
The whole concept from the ground up worked for me and those SA-43 airframes...OUTSTANDING.

Now as for the Warthog. It is all card at present and getting re-enforced at various locations with thick plasticard at present. Then the whole thing will be brushed over with RESIN.
Then after than either Bondo or fiberglass to give it a solid strength and sanded for shape.

The canopy/wind shield has me a little stuck but have a couple of for ideas.

Wish I had a vac form set up, imagine churning a few of these shells out HAHAHAHA

SAAB should run you about $20. Every so often Sam's club has it for $18. that's where I got mine.

Some photos of the resin covered Beastie.
I have also removed the card wind shield now, so start to plan on a clear one once this is close to done.

Tomorrow begins the Fibreglass and resin on the inside of the body.

Wow, this is one SERIOUS build ! It's coming along brilliantly and I'm full of questions . What are you going to do for wheels ? What sort of paint finish will you go for ? ( The recent large scale die-cast Warthog had a high gloss finish and looked fantastic ) . Brilliant , keep it up !

Just taking a break from fiberglassing part of the interior.
Even with mask on a break is still welcomed LOL

Questions answered.

1, Wheels I have currently are also pep, though I am toying on looking at R/C wheels. So I DO have options.
Though the suspension system is the 4 individual as seen HALO-ODST. HALO 4 gave up your typical co-axil type suspension.
So see how things go with the Fibergrass/resin work and if still looking good may keep the 4 individual, if not well co-axil is back up.

2, Not sure if I want HIGH Gloss, as it is a Military vehicle. Plus I know a few "dents" in the pep will work for dents and prangs in the finished weathered piece.
I think key here is being able to do the Windshield as a one piece clear canopy. If I cannot, well option 2 is Smashed windshield, so a battle damaged Warthog LOL

So I am running with two options on this project. Personally hope Option 1 works on all counts LOL

A quick update.

Body is pretty much re-enforced/fibre glassed now. Just need to cover the bonnet and underside with a sheet of plasticard (both sides). Trim and fit the custom "H" crossbar. Then detail the interior before spraying.

My lovely wife holding the Warthog to truly show the size of this beastie.

Now onto the FOUR wheels and suspension system.

Also started work on some 1/6th HALO weapons.

Sniper Rifle wip

Originally was this M82 .50 cal.

Stripped down to this and balsa brace.

Started building up the rear section and barrel.

Where I am at the moment with New lower Body.

Testing out on figure.

Lastly started on TWO SMGs which will have working sliding stocks and fore grips. Included the drafted Blue print.

Looks great BIG GUY, love the WIP pic's as always. Is this the first time you worked with fiberglass? Looks like a good way to make a light 1/6 vehicle.

Yes it is indeed the first time I have worked with fibre glass and resin. Not as bad as I figured it would be. Have mask etc so safe. Got told prior by prop building friends to watch out with the "HENDRIX kit" as they call it LOL

Have to say I may revisit this method again on another vehicle.

Cannot believe the amount of folk have asked if I plan casting the body LOL
Never casted anything before and Most certainly won't try my hand at something this size LOL

It has been a perfect learning curve too, as I have several Props I can get stuck into finishing.
