I was left to wonder how many times the loop had happened, if that truly was the first and only time the note was read and whether or not he was bound to repeat it for eternity. Or was the second "C" ghost relieved of his existence once the first "C" Ghostread the note?

His view of events outside of time and space is absolutely worth pondering over multiple viewings. Man, what a great film. The "2001" of ghost movies IMO.

And that scene where Rooney Mara

eats an entire pie in one take while crying as he stands motionless in frame before she then runs and pukes it all up.

Watching something like that where they don't "cheat" in any way really lets you experience the raw emotion being conveyed on screen. I love it when films can catch true acting in its purest sense like that. I mean

if your lead actress isn't capable of eating an *entire* pie while crying then you just don't get that scene. Period, lol.

I can't wait to see what Lowry does next.

If this was by Malick, he would have shown us the big bang and the dinosaurs at the reset.

Or did he just want to back up a bit and overshot by centuries? Was God or some higher power picking the times for him "A Christmas Carol" style or was he fully in control? I may be unaware of their history regarding this issue.

It was well worth the wait and everything we were hoping it would offer.

You felt for him even thru the sheet but

I didn’t like what he did to that hispanic family very mean spirited, literally lol.

Questions, was that 2 of him at the end one getting the note and the other starting the journey again?

Was the opening wall light heaven/afterlife that he chose to not walk thru?

When he finally got the note why didn’t the bulldozer destruction repeat?

What do you think was the catalyst for that neighbor ghost to finally disappear?

Did you think that little settler girl was his wife because she also wrote a note, at first I thought she was but the time frame wasn’t adding up lol

1. I took it as him refusing to advance to the next stage of life/afterlife yes.

2. The bulldozer didn't appear because he read the note much sooner in the timeline than before.

3. I took it that her reason for staying was because she was holding on to the arrival of a specific loved one but that the moment she forgot who it was her purpose on earth ended.

That's my recollection from my theatrical viewing in July anyway. I definitely need to see it again.

My only real complaint was that the pie eating scene dragged on for far too long sheesh I was already to shut it off at that moment but we were glad we didn’t.

Yeah I took it as him being in a bad place since they were the first to move in after she left and he didn't know how to cope. But I liked that they used it as an excuse to present a classic "things that go bump in the night" scenario.

And the pie scene was one of my favorite moments of the movie, lol.

There’s a fine line between pretentious indulgence and art and for me that pie scene easily crossed the line into being pretentious.

They could’ve shown her depression induced self abuse in half the time.

I wouldn’t blame anyone for stopping the movie during that scene.

Thankfully that was the only one.

That nerds life speech was just as long but at least it was engaging.

My wife is now listening to that catchy song lol.

I do think the movie needs more meat on his connection to that house but otherwise definately a movie worth experiencing.
