yea that is close to the idea that i had thought of already, though mine was going to just have the whole thing come down. but in order to get the look of the doors with the curved lines all the way around that would be a pretty hard build to try to duplicate 6 times. and i did really think about the "cool" factor vs. the practicality of hinging it. time will tell though so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

i also have to worry about the sturdiness of it all because further down the line i'm looking at r/c'ing this beast.....:horror

I love the door idea.... in a masculine sort of way.

It might not be that hard to dupe the doors. If you make a wooden jig then heat styrene and bend around the jig, it would be an easy repro. Use .080 styrene and it would be tough. Panzerwerks makes a good, relatively inexpensive "armored hinge" for the 1:6 WWII market. If you attach them with small bolts instead of CA glue they'll last forever. Finally, you can get 2mm magnets off ebay you could countersink into the body and door, which I think are rated at 4 lbs, so if you do both sides... that 8lbs to open, and a figure only weighs about a pound tops....

When I saw this thread had some activity I actually went "ooh"; only to then be disappointed and say "awww".
