Thanks for the link, much appreciated. Overall I'd say ESB Vader looks good, even with the helmet being a bit oversized.

I just want a good representation of Vader on my shelf. If the eventual 1/6 ROTJ Vader has better proportions I can always sell and upgrade.

I repainted the ESB Vader mask and lowered the helmet so it does not have that gap. I think it looks better need to find some magnets might be even better then that little connector plug.

Don’t know if anyone has done this yet, but I have plans for it, so I immediately tore it apart. Found some interesting things.

It looks like this might be our RotJ head sculpt as well, folks. As you can see in the pics below, there’s a lot of detail in there for stuff your not theoretically ever going to see, and there’s little bits inside that look to me to have no other purpose than to receive some additional hardware parts in a future RotJ Vader with Anakin reveal.

This is the underside of the top of the mask. Look at all the detail, and it’s painted gunmetal.

The lenses are clear amber on this version as well, which I honestly did not expect.

Here’s the inside of the mask, again, there’s all kinds of detail in the sculpt.

I half hoped to find a face sculpt in there, but it’s just a creepy blank face.

The head sculpt just sits on a peg without any glue.

There’s a little bit of detail sculpted on the sides of the bottom of the inside of the “jaw” of the lower mask

And lastly you can see tiny pegs for what I believe will be where Hot Toys will connect the “piano keys” and the microphones that can be seen in the RotJ reveal scene.

Hope this answers any questions folks may have. Let me know if you want to see anything else that I may have not photographed.

Wtc i saw all that last night my self when i was lowering the helmet. Pieces came unglued and was like what !!!!!!!!. Yeah there is a lot of detail inside should be cool once the rotj version comes out.

WTC is on the case!:yess:

Thanks for al the pics. I was really hoping you'd weigh in on this release.

I started modding the facemask (mouth area) a few days ago - I'll try to post pics soon. I'm considering splitting the helmet open, but it's looking okay so far without doing it. There's so many things that bug me about the helmet, but solving the mouth issue is the primary one.

The fact they used a ROTJ reveal sculpt for ESB - and a reveal brace with rivets/greeblies no less - bothers the hell out of me. It created so many problems. The misalignment on the tusk rails - where the two halves glue together and creates a gap/bump - is going to take a LOT of work to get rid of.

Here’s the solution for fixing the gaps on the rails/tusks.

The Chinese manufactured car air fresheners that were made from recast Hot Toys sculpts can be found all over eBay. Just carefully remove the tusks with an Exacto knife, repaint them, and glue them on the ESB Vader Head sculpt. They may need to be heated and bent to achieve a perfect fit.

Problem solved! [emoji1]

I think the proportions on this Vader are one of its strongest points. It really looks like a little man on my shelf lol

Based on pictures I saw, it looks like the chest plate comes off easily? I don't mod or mess with anything at all, so I'm a little nervous to swap it out. I'm getting a replacement from Sideshow since mine arrived damaged.

Wow- a lot of good stuff going on in here. He finally arrived up my way this week. After seeing the flood of great pictures in here, I'm almost embarassed to post a quick out-of-the box shot, but here it is:

HT-ESB-VADER-001.jpg

No futzing, no modding - just as it is. I'm pretty impressed so far - back after I get a better look at him.
In the meantime, I'll keep enjoying the looks, mods and comments- this one's getting a lot of great attention in here - and deservedly so!

I still like the Rogue One best. Seems to have a good middle ground between an ESB with the shiny aspect but is still ANH in design.

I don’t own the ESB but I rarely see a picture on here that I like. I’m not trying to knock it just because I don’t own it. I just fail to see a definitive Vader here. I couldn’t say this is the best sixth scale Vader...I think they all have plus and minuses and jones really take the lead over another.

That is a tad confusing. Those car freshener heads that are recast from the HT Vaders do look useful though Especially for $15.
