That HOA is way overpriced at retail, but damn does it look good. And, wow, what a collection!

What kind of red color did you use?

I used Krylon ColorMaster Paint+Primer Cherry Red Gloss.
First I used a 1500 grit mirror fine sandpaper to lightly rub the surface for painting. You don't have to take the original paint off. Just creat a better surface for the paint to adhere to.
Then a few coats of the red.
Then apply a couple coats of Krylon Crystal Clear SATIN acrylic spray.
Be sure to follow the directions on the cans.
After it's all dry, I do some light sanding in spots for battle damage.
The I use Testors acrylic model paints (any brand acrylic should do).
Water down flat black and brush on where preferred, using a very slightly damp cloth or paper towel to wipe away excess or unwanted paint. You can use a dry rag as well...it'll just create a different sort of pattern. No biggie.
Then use dry brushing techniques to bring out certain details and then tweak as desired.
For some of the battle damage on the die cast parts I used a dremel with the round metal brush to take off some of the paint down to the actual metal....nicer then using silver paint.
Still have my new, shiny version of the M42. Picked up some of the other body parts from different sellers here and there over time to use the BD parts on. More economical if you're patient.

Here's some more pics. And more purely as the MK42.
I like having the RED, but still think this armor's design is better with the gold throughout.
The way I have it now, is with the custom shoulder armor with a bit of RED. I think it frames the gold color scheme a little better.

The Clean version almost looks too shiny to me now. More 'toy' like, perhaps? Still kicks arse, though!

Its a great figure. I honestly picked this one up to see if it was worth my time to get the XLIII. I had passed so many times due to all the issues this had. but I am glad I finally picked it up .
