Well the market speaks, whether you are happy with what they have to say or not. I was interested to see if they could improve on the paint apps with Lady Jaye, but realistically I wasn't about to pay $50 for a better painted sculpt anyway, so. . .I personally am definitely much more interested in new figures as Ramman points out. Though first on my list are Firefly, Dusty, and Shipwreck. But essentially any figures from '84 or '85.

We also want Firefly, Scrap-Iron, Mindbender, Serpentor, Tomax, Xamot, Zarana, Hawk, Shipwreck, Wild Bill ect... Its not that hard! WTF is Brian Flynn doing!?!? He needs to stop releasing figures that HE wants to see and start doing the right caracters people wants before another one of his Ultimates line fails.

Well Scarlett looks phenomenal and it frustrates me that Flint and Lady Jaye look like the walking dead out of the box. Super7 needs to get it together and redo them to match the others. My repaint looks ok, but really doesn’t match the others, so it stands out like a sore thumb too. Of course it had to be Flint that gets f’d 😞

Does anyone here know of talented custom artists that do full on upgrades to figures like this on commission? I've strongly considered going that route with Flint and, once I get one in hand, Zartan, but don't know where to look.

Not sure I’ve seen custom guys do Marvel Legends and McFarlane figs, but nothing that says take my money. If you find someone that can do it, then have two made and send me one :wink1:

I got wave 4 today. On balance I'm really happy with it. Each figure has flaws and strengths. Zartan is really solid in hand. The armor on the left shoulder wasn't positioned as well as the one on the right, so I put some padding underneath it to balance it out a bit. Baroness looks very good with the stock head though the more expressive one didn't work out as the prototype suggested it might.

I also had difficulties getting zartan and baroness to stand stably. I need stands for these things.

Stalker seems very solid though he's a bit boring. Skin paint for him is shiny which sets him apart from the others. Gung Ho's trigger hand is very loose and can't hold his rifle well. But in terms of paint he was handled similarly to Duke. Nice, solid figure.

Overall I give this wave a 7/10. Thrilled to have a comic accurate Zartan of this sort in my collection.

These turned out good. Any ideas for what the next wave will be? Other than repaints.

Total speculation at this point, but I certainly hope we get more original characters from 84 and 85. Toy version of Commando Snake Eyes is the most glaring omission I see among repaint options.

On another note, I got some Tamiya paint to help out with the unpainted sculpts, and it's pretty subtle, but is an improvement for figures like Zartan, Flint, and Lady Jaye:

Here are shots of my Zartan (apologies for the sideways photo) and Lady Jaye with some applied to the nose and mouth areas:

Gives them a bit more depth and "realism," helping to offset the flat and boring quality of the unpainted sculpts.

Putting that new paint on Zartan, does it affects its color changing?

Yes, since you are painting over the plastic it looks a bit off when he changes color. Tog that's a tradeoff I'm happy to make given how much better me looks on display not having that flat plastic look.

Not that bad, just a small case of phase 1 vitiligo. lol
I agree though, totally worth it. Look much better.

Ok so I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and decided to try it out. I picked up an extra Duke to use the heads for Flint and I gotta say it’s a huge improvement. Closer to the original mock-up than what we got.

Even next to Duke they don’t look too similar to be different characters.
