Here’s how I would compare the two:

• Coat- cut n sew as well as material choice is better than DX06. The lining is more accurate to previous iterations though it could be a bit darker to be accurate to DMTNT but not a big deal. The DX15 coat hangs better than that of the DX06 as well
• Boots- some prefer the material of the DX06 but the shape of DX15 are more accurate imo. Color is better on DX06. I repainted mine to not be such a dark brown
• Hands are better scaled on DX15 but the DX15 has the tattoos on the knuckles and the fabric hand wrap
• Paint work-DX06 is mostly just brown colored plastic with barely any real paint apps. dX15 has better paint apps on the faces and the chest/neck area
• I like the shirt more on the DX15 but they’re fairly comparable. The Ultimate Unison shirt is better than both.
• Guns-better in the DX06
• Cutless are pretty much equal
• Pants are similar just slightly different colors. For movie accuracy the DX15 pants are untucked and not cinched at the calf closure but you can do that yourself if you wish to
• Sashes are pretty much equal but neither as as accurate as the Ultimate unison
• Facesculpts - obviously subjective but I think the DX15’s have the stronger likeness and better texturing/detailing and paintwork. I really don’t see Johnny Depp at all in the DX06 smirking sculpt and have never understood why folks like that one.
• Black Pearl in bottle- DX06 has a nice aqua/teal tint to it whereas the DX15 is pretty clear which I don’t like
• Rum bottle-DX06 looks a bit more matte and worn vs DX15 which has a bit of shine
• Remaining accessories I would say are pretty much equal

• DX06 also has more overall hands than DX15 for some reason, I have a full DX06 set to use with my DX15 for the variety and not having the tats and wrap unique to only DMTNT.
• DX15 has the superior serious face, even if a bit fuller to represent older Depp.
• Likeness is questionable on both smirk/smile faces, but I think the actual expression looks better on the DX06. The DX15 gives me creepy vibes, where the DX06 has a cocky smirk to it, which is totally Jack's persona.
• Belts on the DX15 are glossier in finish, I liked the DX06 better.
• The head of Jack's Mom is larger on the DX06, and I think more accurately scaled, I was a bit let down by how tiny it is on DX15.

If we're showing customs, this is my COTBP version. Pardon the terrible pic from nearly 10 years ago (wow, can't believe it's been that long since I made this). I need to upgrade the belts to real leather, and replace the studs on the vest with accurate ones I have (too lazy to d0 it), but otherwise pretty happy with it. Belt buckle is from the Medicom figure as it's accurate to COTBP vs the later ones. I've since upgraded the compass to the HT.

I have the whole captain's gear for it as well just don't have any pics on hand. My DMC/AWE Jack is the one on display currently.

Yea, the hand variety is nice with the DX06. The problem I have with them is how massive and out of scale they are. I opted for the Ultimate Unison hands on my custom


Looks good. If you'd like to have a bit more accurate bandana, DinoYa makes some. I'd also suggest repainting the baldric/chest belt buckle to a more satin gold finish rather than the silver that is it stock from Medicom.

It's able to be worked better then horse hair as that tends to be straight and horrible to work with. Plus scale wise it's not accurate.

I'm not going to be overly impressed if the "regular" version has two swaths of "wool" hair instead of the "doll" hair from before
