Hot Toys DX15 Captain Jack Sparrow (Dead Men Tell No Tales)

I hope it's easy to buy. Wasn't the Joker or Anakin a bit of a cluster **** to get from Sideshow?

Still, I agree, it should have been COTBP instead. It's the best film and my favorite look of the character. A Cannibal Jack version would be just as good too.

True but the belts on mine except for the snake skin one and chest belt, have all fallen apart due to being pleather. I'm amazed this new one is Artisan edition also. It will probably look better then the dx15 with better paint apps but the clothes looks about the same. Probably leather belts this time also.

I also would have preferred a COTBP Jack or DMC/AWE but this one is good too. I feel a deluxe DMC Jack would have came with Cannibal king chair, sculpt and crown. That would be an instant buy.

Not sure about the dreads... looks a bit too thick now compared to sculpted.

Hope the bandanna is fabric at least and the headpieces aren't just sculpted on again.

This looks really cool to me. Can't wait to see the rest of the photos. Always regretted selling my DX15 years ago. Hopefully I can get lucky enough to score this one. Wonder how the base will be...

But yes, a Jack from the first film would've been ideal. I hope the pants on this one can be tucked a little further into the boots.

Surprised Disney and/or Depp have allowed this to be made. Maybe the license was about to expire so HT is taking one more go at it? Sort of glad I sold my DX15 awhile ago when it was going for top dollar, but I assume this is going to be a PITA to get just as all the other artisan figures have been so far I’m pretty happy with my DMC/AWE custom, but I won’t be able to resist trying to get one.

Guessing they’re including the Black Pearl rudder since it’s in the teaser pic. Hopefully they included a better display base to attach it too instead of the cheap chipboard they used on the DX06 one.

Based on the teaser, the baldric/chest belt appears to be made better than the previous one that the DX15 came with.

I wonder if the face sculpts will be new or the same as before? Would be nice to get a smiling sculpt with teeth, but Depp rejected the original DX06 smiling sculpt with teeth showing, so probably won’t happen.

As for things that could be upgraded from the original DX15, I’d say there are a few but not many

• Fabric bandana
• More accurate sash. So far, the Ultimate unison figure is the only one to have gotten the sash accurate
• More accurate color coat
• Pirate ‘P’ brand on forearm
• Sparrow tattoo on forearm
• Weathered up cutless blade instead of the shiny chrome metal
• Accurate hat
• They should include the diary
• Maybe some gold coins from the opening bank robbery
• EDIT: real leather belts

Would love if they had done a young Jack Sparrow

Would be great if they turn out to be, but not sure HT will do it. Artisan Anakin is still using pleather along with a bunch of the latest Star Wars Ahsoka line announcements. I’ll add it to my list though

I will say the baldric/chest belt looks different and arguably better than the DX15 one.

We already know from the teaser the dreads are rooted, possibly a new sculpt I'd imagine would be good with a new expression. Can see this one being harder than joker to get

I could be swayed on this, even if just to have two base figures to display the cost/no coat look.

It also looks like we're getting a reused wheel which is nice. I've always wanted that.

Either way, I suspect this is the only one they could or do have licensing to do. And the tooling still all probably is viable. So win win for them. For what it's worth, unlike many, I don't begrudge them for this. It's an easy profit.

I'm starting to doubt there will even be a non artisan version. What are they going to do? Just make the dreads sculpted and the rest is hair like the previous version? The difference between artisan and non would feel very small.

Not even going to bother trying to get this. It should be a regular DX of Pirates 1. Period.

Would be super cool if they revised this and gave us a better sculpt of this DX06 proto.

I really loved this expression but likeness wasn't the best. It looks like this artisan version will be a cross between both 15 and 6 as the ship rudder is included.

Would be cool, but Depp didn't allow a sculpt with his teeth showing which is why that one was scrapped. Who knows, with the way things are between him and Disney, maybe he won't care this time. Would be really great to get that kind of expression this time to really differentiate it from previous releases.

I prefer closed mouth sculpts with a neutral expression with some level of menace. Lol. It just works.

I’m only in this for possible parts, particularly the rudder. I love my custom DX15 with DX06 parts.

Its an interesting case, as on one hand I can't see how they can improve dramatically on the last two DX Sparrows both of whom are some of the best figures HT have ever made.
On the other hand it seems like HT pull out their A-Game when it comes to Depp characters.

Is there a major difference between the costumes from Curse to Dead Men?
