I didnt want to deal with stenciling a bunch of different colors so I was content with just going with gold for the screens, I feel it gives off the right general impression. At least, good enough for me. I wanted to use as little paint as possible, both for my sanity and to avoid anything rubbing off on the figure, so the only things painted are the gold LCARS.
Maybe I'll get around to adding the red stickers too but for the moment that's another problem I don't feel like tackling yet.

I modeled it in Blender with a couple structural modifications to make it easier to 3D print, this is a render of the original file:

I don't really have the room for such an elaborate display for this figure but I was jonesing for an uncomplicated printing project and this seemed like it would be fun. I'll find the room somewhere!

I don’t know anything about 3D printing but that is really impressive for a home made piece. How long did it take you to produce that?

The EXO version will probably be $400+ USD.

The 3D modelling was done across three days. Following a couple hours of reference gathering and deciding on which iteration to go with, the bulk of it was modeled in one day. But that was followed by a whole lot of checking reference and tweaking and redoing until I was satisfied. Mainly regarding the chair, because the support that cradles it is kind of a weird shape, and I ended up redoing the whole chair section to make the shapes easier to 3D print, along with adding some keys and other mods to the other parts so that they would physically fit together and print more easily. Then toward the end I worked on creating the stencils and turning them into 3D shapes I could also print.

Once I was nearly ready to print, I actually spent a lot of time trying to find the right colors of filament, since I wanted to avoid paint as much as possible. That took time, and I ended up exchanging one I wasn't satisfied with for another color. Then the actual 3D printing began and took many days. The biggest shape takes about 9 hours. The main console is another 5 hours. The chair section (both parts of it) is 10 hours. The "light" and the platform together another 6 hours. Another couple hours for the smaller parts and stencils. So in total that's about 32 hours of printing which I did over the course of a week or so, since I don't have time to be printing around the clock.

And then of course is the assembly and the minor painting. What I didn't mention earlier is that I also got some thin adhesive felt which I applied over the platform to give the impression of the rug.

Oh, and in the middle of all this, my 3D printer broke down and I spent about 8 hours repairing and recalibrating it myself before I could continue on.

So all in all, this project took me around two weeks. But with the legwork done, if I were to make another it would probably take me about a week, depending on how busy I otherwise was.

A few things I've seen Nanjin mention on Facebook:

1. There is a "too short" prototype of Geordi out there, and height has been addressed for final product
2. There are no photos of the final Geordi headsculpt, it's a new version he has not shared, and done after promo shots were taken
3. The "Essential" versions are for people who want a character in a display, but not the most important, so they cut accessories to make it cheaper

Sounds like the height concern has been addressed, I don’t mind the sculpt as it stands, but if they’ve improved it why not share?

They don't like money

The final product is often different than promo shots for many companies. Its even common fine print on 1/6 promo shots.

I've been waiting for a high quality Geordi thing for like decades. He's my favorite Trek character (I always like the more normal nerdy characters) and I'd usually ignore these incredibly expensive figures but I couldn't ignore this. I guess I have to get the entire cast now... wow and these things release so slow too... that'll be quite a few years before they have them all if they even get that far.

I was interested in the Super7 Star Trek Ultimates line but was waiting for Geordi in fear they'd cancel it before him, and having the cast WITHOUT Geordi would be pointless. And it looks like they've canceled the Ultimates line which sucks... Then this one appears. I can live without other TNG characters but not Geordi. I had to get the Data too because... you know.

I'm glad the height difference was fixed. But just glad to finally have high quality Geordi merch which is soooo rare. They're always doing just Picard, Data, Worf... maybe others. I really hope they get through the whole cast here. I guess them getting through the VOYAGER cast gives me hope.

Not sure if you've been collecting EXO-6 or not but these figures come out anything but slow. We just got Data and Geordi will be here in a couple of months. Now that they're on TNG we will have the main 7 before you know it.

Welcome to the forum. If the TNG line follows the same momentum as VOY, I’d assume we could have the rest of the bridge crew in 18 months or so. DS9 and TNG seem to be a joint focus right now.

I went for Geordie in the end. You can’t have Data without him Didn’t go for the bells and whistles version, as I know I’ll likely pose them once.

Really hope the rest of the TNG crew shape up nicely. Would like to finish that crew off, and it will likely be the only one where I want all the main cast.

Good call on Geordi. I’m all in for TNG as well, I’ve picked up everything from the line expect for Q, though I’m considering him.

Even if I only display a few, i'd kick myself if i ever had more space and wanted to recreate the entire bridge.

Who do y'all think is the next TNG figure?

I feel like it has to be Picard based on how often he's been teased. The rest of the (unreleased) crew have barely been shown.

I feel Picard has been done for a while and is ready to go, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ro was next.

I’d welcome a tease on any of the other crew members. Haven’t seen Riker in over a year and the others haven’t been shown at all to my knowledge.

I’m going to have to pack away some things myself to accommodate the crew, but they’ll be a showpiece for sure.

Aside from the main crew, I’d like to see some of the more iconic recurring characters and villains such as:

Commander Tomalak (a menacing presence and the uniform is a classic Romulan look for the collection)

Duras Sisters (this dual would have great shelf presence and pays homage to Generations as well)

Starfleet Q (his more relatable and mischievous look)

Other contenders: Gowron, Sela, Hugh, Gul Madred.

Logically it could be Worf because he also wears the yellow outfit like Data and Geordi but I know they were struggling with the metal sash he wears.

So I'm also thinking Picard but whoever it is they're getting pre-ordered hour 1.
