There's nothing to fear with the 3D sculpted fabric. The release of Pattinson Batman demonstrates this. The minutiae of the fabric is something I've never seen before in a product that is cast/printed. It really is mind-blowing without trying to use hyperbole.

With that said, for this and Cavill Superman, do I believe they could have used real fabric and have it realistically skin tight? Yeah, I do, especially at this scale. They could do something like skin-tight fabric around the torso and legs. And at the seems of the armpit through to the shoulder, where there's naturally a seem in the textiles anyway, you have the arm connected via magnet with its own skin tight suit around the arms, and where the magnets join that's where the visible seams would be.

In my mind, that seems doable, maybe they tried that and it didn't work. Who knows, it would be nice to have some insight. But regardless, the 3D modelling and printing is next to nothing, it's borderline the real thing and to be honest, probably sharper and more exaggerative than the real textures. What lets that down, however... is the paint. The painting will always reveal that it's plastic sculpting, the sheen just isn't matte or dull enough in the reflection to give an uncanny effect of real cloth. So eh, I'm half and half with it. The effect is stupendous, the facade is see-through.

In the last video gipetto shared he quoted, 'We tried using fabric and there were points about the fabric that got in the way for me in terms of realism.' It'll probably be doable one day but there will always be stitching that looks too big and the knit of the cloth that simply looks three times too small compared to life size fabric. I honestly can't tell that the pattinson batsuit isn't fabric so their decision to master that medium rather than do fabric is the right one IMO

Damn, missed this and sold out

toys wonderland still has it, appears to be a few hundred more there
anyone know if that seller is reliable’
just might have to get this one

To be honest, when the sculpted detail is so good like this that it’s pretty much indistinguishable from real fabric, I see no need to go the actual fabric route. Even though I tend to much prefer mixed media over fully sculpted, what JND have accomplished with this and The Batman is so good and realistic, it almost seems pointless to go for mixed media other than to have the tactile feel of real cloth material the few times you may touch it.

That said, characters in garments like a real men’s suit such as Clark Kent, the Bruce Wayne pieces, Arthur Fleck and TDK Joker are better off with the real cloth fabric clothing rather than fully sculpted.

Exactly, I haven't always been on the side of JND but credit where it's due, their fabric tailoring and now their clothes sculpting are second to none. I think I would want to touch their batman suit just to check it wasn't fabric lol

This is the only pic I’ve found from this event. The Clark Kent part of the set is still the real winner but the detail in the Superman suit remains incredible for being fully sculpted but looking like real fabric

Doesn’t look like the Superman head sculpt has improved since the proto. Something looks off with the likeness and neck perhaps.

Clark Kent looks good.
