Yeah - 10% deposit was paid to Secret Compass just over a year ago (almost to the day). PRIME1 had them in stock THEN, and still does NOW.

The last time I emailed Shane (6 months back), he said his distributor was still dealing with a backlog - which is probably why there are folks like yourself that have been waiting for THIS.

I'd like to think it will turn up at some point, but I have no idea what is (or isn't) happening "behind the scenes" to slow things down this much for something that is in stock No way I'm risking ordering direct from PRIME1 though

I received my DXS from Shane two Fridays ago. Opted for free shipping since I ordered under that window. The free shipping from Colorado to Texas resulted in it getting to me in 4 days!

Everything looks fine, I just have no place to put it together right now as we're still unboxing the house from our recent move.

Inspiration struck while editing the latest batch of photos and I whipped up this quick little poster design. Will share the rest soon.

The meat and potatoes. First pic is how I currently have him displayed -- rest assured this guy doesn't get direct sunlight outside of the occasional photo session. Once I got him on the new pedestal, I tried the plants again and found they work much better than when he was on the floor. I still can't get behind the dark green twiggy ones, but the ferns look nice enough after futzing with them.

I absolutely agree, the menace and awe of the creature from the first movie has been captured perfectly from those images, it is remarkable!

I really wish it could be released as a smaller version, same for the alien big chap. It would give collectors with less display room a chance to own it in a smaller format, and undoubtedly be a huge commercial success for Prime 1 too.

Question for you all as I could use some advice/insight haha -

Shane at SC mentioned he still has PO slots for the DXS, and although I’ll have to pay shipping, I’m really leaning towards it, however, a retailer appears to have the DX in stock.

I am keen on the idea of getting the DXS, but does that sound right to you all that SC would still be waiting on PO stock from P1 in mid December?

Ultimately I want the DXS but what I don’t want is somehow placing a deposit and it never arriving and then the DX inventory at that other retailer dries up.

I’m US-based in TX, to add that part of the details lol

Well - not sure it helps, but I'm STILL waiting on the PRIME1 EX "Sengoku" Predator that I ordered through Shane back in Sept 2022 (when PRIME1 had this in stock). I contacted Shane last week as I noticed this now shows as "SOLD OUT" on the PRIME1 website (status changed recently), and I'm concerned I've now missed out on THAT piece.

If you look further up the thread, Shane had said his distributor was having problems "clearing a backlog" on PRIME1 pieces, so I'm still holding out hope the distributor got hold of one and it just hasn't reached Shane yet.

I haven't heard back from Shane yet - so I'll let you know when I DO hear back.

Ugh, the anxiety! lol I can relate to your position for sure. I hear good things about SC so far, but I also know how it works, today it could be, “oh I totally will have stock,” and then tomorrow it’s “sorry, they’re gone now, here’s your deposit back” but now all on-hand stock of the DX is gone too lol

I'd go for the retailer if the price works for you.

Though for context, a LOT of people ordered from SC and this particular statue seems to be getting manufactured and shipped in waves. I think he's still fulfilling the orders of the last few years. He might not change the status to "in stock" until he has inventory laying around with no one to claim it.

Im waiting on the ahab predator and the DXS jungle hunter from SC. I was told nearly 3 weeks ago he had a batch coming in that week. Not heard anymore but have preordered the berserker and scar predator's with him.

Update.

I nudged Shane again, and after a bit of back-and-forth, have been informed that my PRIME1 "Sengoku" Predator has been secured, and is currently sitting in a warehouse in "Asia". He estimated that it should be with him some time in Jan.

The whole "backlog" thing is open to multiple interpretations, but (without posting this weeks multiple email exchanges - which would be disrespectful & rude) I'll summarise by saying that my interpretation/guess (not explicitly stated by Shane) is that Shane's "distributors" have obtained stock from PRIME1, but may have encountered difficulties getting shipments from "Asia" to the States scheduled/organised

Anyways - hopefully this all works out for everyone . . . fingers crossed a lot of us get slightly late Christmas presents

Prime 1 direct has a pretty deep discount on the DX version for the holiday. $2400 with free (US, CA, EU) economy shipping. Just make sure "santa shipping" is selected.

Originally the DX was $3000, no idea what their shipping was since I've never ordered direct from them. But I've heard their economy shipping has risen to several hundred dollars. Some collectors even had to get an import license in order to receive their statues, don't remember which shipping speed that was for. Crazy stuff.

It's very nicely presented and painted, but, once you look beyond that, I'm afraid it begins to fall a little flat. Proportionally it's way off. It has the body proportions of a standard height human. Kevin Peter Hall was anything but. To create the best overall impression, an '87 Predator needs to look like he is in the suit. Out of any I've seen, only NECA has been able to convey this. Without the physical presence, any figure or statue just looks like a cosplayer.
