I agree. I think the Donner films portrayed Clark as a character he played to disguise his competence in the way you described. But other iterations like the old B&W tv show and even superman the animated series showed a more serious Clark not the nerdy klutz.

Kind of like Bruce Wayne puts on the mask of the clueless billionaire playboy when he’s out in public.

I like Henry Cavill. I think the problems with the dceu were with the scripts and management, not necessarily with the acting. I’d hoping that he and Affleck with stick around. Changing actors all the time breaks the illiusion.

Not much of an illusion when the universe is an incoherent mess hahah

Cavill and Affleck don't make the main creative script decisions- however they are perfect for the roles

I think that the time of his inception, no one would figure a clumsy nerd like Clark Kent to be the likes of Superman.

Off topic, I hate how perry treats Clark In BvS. I mean, it’s not being a boss, but like a bully.

To be fair, Clark is a terrible journalist in BVS. Just blowing off the story you've been assigned to do something in a completely unrelated field you've been told not to bother with sounds like a good way to get fired.

The DCEU, IMO, suffers from writers who are more trailblazers than innovators. To me folks like Timm, McDuffy, and the guy who wrote the Red Hood story are more innovators in the material and genra. I do like Cavil and think it would be a total shame and waste if we don’t get a definitive Superman movie with him. I grew to like Afleck too but this dillution with the Batverse being in TV and two other movies doesn’t seem to warrant the coin to keep someone of his stature around. He should be the lead in this entire franchise, not a part of a fleet of folks playing Batman on TV and other movies. The Nolan series would have had way less punch if Bale and Ledger were just two OTHER Batman and Jokers. :dunno

Terrible journalist or just terrible employee for ignoring his boss' instructions and deciding to report on violent vigilantism instead of a football game and a library charity event?

Shouldn't they have a specialist sports writer to cover the football game. :lol

Focusing on a football game that was a blowout and ignoring a huge story that's staring you in the face seems more indicative of terrible journalism to me.
