Consensus seems to be that that version was executed pretty poorly. I think in part it comes down to the sculpt having removable hair, but since the point was to have the sculpts work with the Endor helmet they made compromises.

Or those complaining the windswept hair looks bad because they are trying to justify not purchasing this release.

I for one like all of it. The windswept hair, the deleted scene additions, the new sculpt. This release gives me the joy and the feels.

:exactly: The wind-swept sculpt looks great imo. Will be a nice change of scenery from the bowl cut he's got right now.
I really don't mind the teeth either - it'll work with dynamic posing.

Looking forward to the first duplicate on my shelf.

I’m pretty sure the cloak causing staining issues is why they they took it off the deluxe. They didn’t want to redesign the robe so it’s easier to not include it
There’s no need to redesign the robe. Hot Toys is just too lazy and brainless to bleed the dye from their materials before cutting. It’s a pretty easy fix that we shouldn’t even have to be talking about.

Also, the new options are great on this figure... except including the sail barge hair on a figure that’s supposed to be his ENDOR LOOK. I don’t think it could be spelled out any clearer than that.

And because of this little tactic, that ****ing hair piece is going to run $100 on the secondary market, because most people are not going to buy essentially the same figure again for an accessory they should already have.

And the fact that they spelled it out pretty clearly in the instruction manual that the first figure would be compatible with upcoming accessories showed their intentions up front.

It was nice of them to make the first release compatible with the new endor accessories for anyone who didn’t want two figures. They didn’t have to do that. They could have went the same route as they did with Stormtrooper and ANH Luke where the hair was not removable on the former but they didn’t with this release.

They knew not everyone would want two figures and they knew some would so they came up with a compromise that satisfies both kinds of collectors and makes them money in the process. They knew people like Toy Anxiety will part out those pieces people wanted without having to buy the whole figure but TA still has to buy that figure to part out.

I guess no matter what they do HT can’t win with some collectors.

I honestly think most people are getting upset due to the cost involved with these figures. But this is an expensive hobby and we all know that. But you can't blame Hot Toys for making more figures. If this figure tanks, then HT will avoid doing variations like this in the future, but I really doubt that it will. People will buy this.

We more or less knew this was coming, so it wasn't that big of a surprise.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. I personally think it's great.

LOL at people defending ****** anti-consumer actions.

"Dont like it? Take a hike! I have more money than sense so it doesn't affect me! I buy 5 of the same character every month!!"

Get out of here with that trash.

I think I'm gonna skip preordering this time and just pick up the standard version cheaper on eBay with a discount code when it comes out. Since that has proven to be the better option lately and $245 is way too much to spend for it (and the extras in the Deluxe don't interest me enough to pay even more).

Thank you for this intelligent and well thought out response. You seem like a lovely individual.

yeah and if you luck out you'll get a seller who ships free.. Good deal! I buy tons from ebay with the coupons/ebay bucks return.

LOL at people whining about capitalism on a doll website for grown men.

We fart in your general direction.

iPhones, computers, tech in general are a terrible comparison. Of all the Hot Toys Star Wars figures so far, when's the last time they released a deluxe version of a nearly identical figure right after the previous one shipped to nearly everyone that pre-ordered?

Death Trooper. Didn't really affect me as I wanted two but some people were mad.

Death Trooper. Didn't really affect me as I wanted two but some people were mad.

Ah yup, so it's happened even in SW, but it's rare. Couldn't remember how that played out so just looked back at those threads and people were indeed just getting shipping notices or receiving their "specialist" when the other two were announced. And as you said, annoyed some folks.

Those eBay discount coupons definitely caused me to buy more figures than I normally would!

They're so frequent that I think I'm done pre-ordering. I've been able to get a bunch of figures for retail or less w/free shipping and early using those coupons. Plus, the better thing is that normally I would be looking and looking for something to buy since everything I wanted was already on order. So at least now when a new figure pops up I can wait on a code, if nothing comes up then I'll put in a pre-order.

Anakin Skywalker meet dark side anakin
Not a deluxe, but a far worse rip off.
At least that figure was phenomenal.
This Release is underwhelming.

I can't see that at all. It doesn't come with both heads. They're 2 different releases. If you had to have a Sith head I'd be annoyed, but it was barely in the movie. If the Sith version came with both heads, and Dooku's lightsaber then I'd feel ripped off.

And as it's been pointed out, yeah I'm annoyed that I'm being taken advantage by the company. By all rights Luke should have been a DX, but split it between 3 releases (at least for now) you'll get people double dipping, and some buying all 3 for whatever reason.

Ha yeah it probably would be smarter to use those on figures I would have bought anyway, instead of on some random figure I stumbled across during a late night search because I didn't want the code to go to waste. :lol

Wait to they get to the two different Luke pilot variants... first will come ANH pilot, then a year later ESB pilot with everything except the black gloves and boots but with that great jacket. Oh, and same sculpt with eyes-to-the-side. :lol

Therein lies the problem. Relying on the secondary market to complete a figure, because they wanted to pull a scummy tactic that several video game publishers have orchestrated in the past.

You can defend it all you want, but the whole idea of ONLY including the windswept hair with the deluxe Endor version “because it’s got the deleted scene garb” is a ****** scheme and should never have been allowed to happen. But it has. We have every right to voice displeasure with it.

I'm trying really hard to imagine getting this upset about a toy, and I just can't.

Yes, just toys.

Just $300+ toys. What a joke

These aren't bloody Black Series trinkets. And if you can't see that then there is something wrong with you.

Just preordered through Alter Ego.

Like Jedijim, I'm all about Luke. The more the better.

My only beef is the escalating price tag... the wait time.
