Lol it beat Justice League, and doubled Solo. Strange times we live in

Sonyverse is a go-go!

Ouch! It opened higher over there than those last two meh SW movies? Oh Snikt is definitely celebrating right now. :lol

Second highest opening after IW in China too. :pow

2 bad movies. 6 iconic superheros. 1 popular spiderman villain. Wow. Kudos to sony lol. And seriously China loll

I will watch it when it hits blu ray. I have heard its dumb fun entertainment and I am curious by it. Hardy has to be better than Topher Grace as Venom. Still can't believe how much this made in china with out Iron Man. How many hot toys variants? Gold, Blue, Stealth, Hot Rod. Could be another gold mine for them. :rotfl

Still have zero interest to see it without Spidey lol

Me too.

This movie's success is only gonna do more harm than good. It's going to give Sony the false impression that they're idea's for a Spidey less Spider-Man universe was good. So now they will go ahead with Morbius, the black cat & silver sable, and come up with more bad ideas. And on top of that, they're probably gonna end their deal with Marvel allowing Spidey in the MCU. So next years Spider-Man Far From Home could possibly be his last hoorah in the MCU.

Oh well, at least you fans got a Dumb Venom movie. Rest with knowing we will now never get a proper film version of comic book Venom. :(

Jaysus that better not happen.

Complete opposite this made their bond even stronger.

MCU success lead to Venom success.

Do you really think little Amy Pascal from Pascal Productions has any say over what Disney does.

My thoughts exactly. Spidey is a "safe" money maker in the mcu. Sony just realised they actuqlly DONT need spiderman to make bank. Just look at them introduce spiderwoman for the venomverse instead lol

Idk venom is my fav villain and to see him possibly never have a proper battle with Spider-Man is devastating lol

I think Amy Pacal will feel emboldened by this box office and will use it ot renegotiate the terms of the Spidey MCU deal when the time comes. Possibly to have these venom movies retconned into the MCU canon so that Spidey and the Sony venom can share a movie in the future.

The midnight edge YouTube channel have some interesting analysis on all this, check them out if you get a moment as they appear quite informed. They have also suggested that Tom Holland is contractually obliged to appear in one more spidey movie than the current MCU deal so that if everything goes wrong Pascal can still get Holland to appear in her Sony verse ... in order to trick casuals into thinking it is part of the MCU.
