Hi dudes.
I am about to take this guy out of his box for the 1st time.

Can't go through 400 pages of posts.
Can any of you who have been here since the beginning, draw some sort of summary of the findinds, issues, fixes, tips, tricks, accuracy improvements and/or popular customizations for these Jawa figures?

Thanks to all of you, helpful ones!
Regards,
m.

What are we, your mother ?

Sorry I'm not a "helpful one" for something like this. I also see you've posted the same question in different threads.

Read through the thread if you're that interested. It's part of the experience !

It's a pity HT haven't done another younger Luke version of some sort. I'd love to have a good headsculpt for this. The Jedi Luke headsculpt won't work at all. Maybe once they get to a newer ESB Luke that will work, depending on which look they choose.

You could use the Jedi head for an X-Wing going back to Dagobah Luke when he first puts on the glove. He was wearing his flight suit.

Necks. Jedi Luke has a neck but the X-Wing pilot is just the head sculpt. I think you'd probably need to do an entire body swap.

So seeing the talk about this one and the Rogue Squadron version: which one is the preferred figure? I'm trying to make a decision about which one to get. The Rogue Squadron version could mix well with the Yoda that I have. Thoughts?

The Snowspeeder Luke is preferred in here, but it's always looked a bit too tall and puffy for my taste and definitely not worth the high prices it's going for now. I'd probably give a slight edge to the X-Wing Luke myself, even though it's still not something I'd want to pay more than $180 for.

Hopefully HT has noticed the high demand for that Snowspeeder Luke and is busy making their own version...

Buddy did you make blue leader? How and where!!?! I needs eeettt! Thanks partner!

I did. I used:
-HT Jim Gordon sculpt, repainted moustache.
-Red 5 helmet, repainted.
-TFA Han Solo gloves, repainted.
-Red 5 pilot gear.
- Custom made flight suit by "Enaud".

I prefer this one too. I’m not really sure why the Snowspeeder version is so loved on this board. It’s awkward looking between being too tall and how puffy he looks. This one isn’t perfect either due to the poor sculpt but the outfit overall looks a lot more natural.

Finally picked up one of these and I love it. I'm surprised, however, that Sideshow hasn't re-used this outfit yet to do Biggs or Wedge. Considering the mileage they got out of the clones, a few more Rebel pilots seems like a no-brainer to me.

Finally got one of these figures locally for about $175 shipped. I was willing to pay maybe $150-160 before shipping. Interested to see how it compares to the custom I made using various bits from this figure bought from Toy Anxiety - I paid maybe $100 for the basic suit and helmet but had to use an old Luke head, custom bandolier, Dragon boots etc.

i may turn my custom into another non-Luke x-wing pilot, or maybe have a gloves-on and gloves-off version (my custom is holding the bunched gloves.)

Interested to see how the "notorious" head on this figure looks in-hand without the helmet on - is it good enough to stand among HT figs or does it look as weird (unconvincing eyes, odd skintone, not enough fine sculpt or paint detail) as it does in some pics?

I would love to display the new full fig holding the helmet in his hands (and keep my helmet-on custom as a different Luke look) but really not sure the head is good enough - despite it being a super-expensive (for that time) $240 figure when released.

custom of the year.:clap:thud:

Yeah that's a really good deal. If I could find one for about that price I'd probably grab it too. And I still think there's a decent likeness on that other head, or else it wouldn't work so well with the helmet on. The problem, like with most Luke sculpts, is just with the bad paint job and poorly sculpted hair.

I did quite a bit of surgery on the Luke Snowspeeder unhelmeted hair and was able to get it look... somewhere between okay and decent, coming from a starting point of "unusable." Sideshow's hair sculpts always seem to be pretty poor in detail though, even if they get the overall shape looking better than HT does (egg-head Luke farmboy for example, and even that Luke Bespin BD hair.)

It is pretty remarkable that Sideshow releases two Lukes for $240 and $270 and you can't really display them unhelmeted. While most would display with helmet on, that really shouldn't happen at that price point.

As I said, I would love to have displayed the new Luke with helmet off, but really not sure I'll be able to do that because of the poor quality paint. My guess is someone like silentsurfer would do an awesome repaint and really elevate a nice sculpt, but that costs the price of a whole other figure.
