I just got Rey in after snagging her with my eBay coupon from earlier this week.

First and foremost, the usual "it's better in hand" jazz you all expect, and it is. There is no question who it's supposed to be when she's on your shelf. I'd say it's a good portrait all around, a solid A-/B+ effort depending on your lighting.

Secondly, and perhaps the most telling here, is she absolutely puts the TFA sculpt to shame. I was planning on posing them together but I really think it's too slanderous to the TFA figure to do so. Not since Star Lord V1 and V2 have I felt such a leap in quality of a sculpt. She's markedly lighter than the TFA version, which is a nice touch since she has been out of the desert. She's also a hair taller. The outfit is simplistically complex too, with a lot of nice details that pictures really don't capture.

Didn't have time to properly set up a shelf and do a really solid pose session (the balance isn't human enough, too stiff, especially in the elbows and shoulders) like with Leia and Luke, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with this figure if you pick her up. My biggest gripe is a lack of accessories, which may or may not be a problem for you. Though I admittedly don't know what more they could have added. A throne room floor or Ach-To themed diorama would have been welcome. Heck reuse the TFA Luke one for all I care.

This figure won't change your opinion of Rey, or dethrone something like Yondu, but if you've even had a fleeting interest, she's likely worth it. I hope she returns to the three tucked pony tail look in IX so we have the opportunity to upgrade the TFA sculpt, because like with Luke's various iterations, I feel like I could display both together easily if the sculpt was there.

Nice review DioramaMaker. Has anyone put this on the TFA figure?

I’m also still curious to see if the sculpt looks more like Daisy or less with the TFA head gear added. But don’t think anyone will try that.

I think you'd get a pretty accentuated bobble head look. While it's not much bigger, the head itself on the TLJ figure seems to be larger on the whole.

To do the garb, I suspect you'd need to mod the hair in some capacity. Though it was made to fit the triple pony style on the TFA one so I might be wrong there.
Hey, does anyone think the TLJ lightsaber arm will fit on the TFA figure? Thanks!
I think it was Ton Ton actually who's picked one up, but I could be remembering wrong. That being said, I don't see why it wouldn't. It's the usual female HT arm as far as I could tell.

I just slid the wrapping down enough that the arm was exposed and pulled it off to test it. From what I recall it slides on and off easy enough but just have to be careful it doesn’t get snagged as it goes over the joint.

The other thing worth noting is that you’d be sliding it from the thicker part first, so it might be a little tougher.

Those who own the figure, is there a way to hang the lightsaber hilt from her belt? I haven't seen it done in any photos.

Nice! just gotta find the part now. (not many on Ebay yet).

if anyone has a spare they want to sell, let me know!

I was almost thinking of picking up the whole TLJ Rey for that reason. I still want to check out the head sculpt too but it’s too damn expensive by itself. Would have been cheaper to by the whole thing and sell off the parts I didn’t need.

Got her on Monday and got a chance to open her up last night and she looks great!

I think others have said how impressive and intricate the outfit is. The details and scaling are amazing. The face sculpt and hair look beautiful.

Some of the joints felt ever so slightly looser than normal, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting how I pose her. And she’s great to pose so far. I didn’t have too much time so I just left her in a basic stance with her lightsaber but she really looks great.

I think it’s the most wrapped up figure I’ve ever gotten! The usual head, hands and feet were wrapped in plastic. But there was also an extra bit of plastic separating her leather wrist band from her hand. There was extra plastic protecting the hair strands. There was plastic separating her shoulder length hair from the outfit, and there was plastic under her top inside her neck and chest area to protect the skin from the inside of the outfit. That was a lot of wrapping!

I do wish they would have included a wide open “force” hand. It would have been good to be able to pose her either levitating the rocks on Crait, or force pulling the lightsaber against Kylo.

Also, question about the stand cover—does the other one come off and you replace the covers? Or does one just sit on top of the other? I kinda tried to remove the one it comes with (white with the red graphics) but it seems to be glued on. I didn’t want to force it so I just sat the Ahch-to rock on top.

Hopefully tonight I’ll have a little more time to play around and maybe take a picture or two.

Yeah a Force hand would have been great to have with this one (and the previous Rey figures too for that matter). I'm also wishing they had included a lightup arm holding Kylo's lightsaber, as it was such a memorable and badass look.
