Aside from the obvious lack of bulk, this figure would have been loads better if they lowered his head a bit. We shouldn’t be seein any neck really.

Is there any precedent where HT have done a non standard body type and no shirt like this? Agree it was sloppy work and one of my most disappointing purchases.

Yeah, they really need to add a second headsculpt too. One with him laughing or screaming "Thanos" or something !

I do agree HT should have added a second sculpt with a laugh or screaming expression. Definitely would have brought the figure up a few notches.

There is a lot of hate on this figure for sure. Wouldn't pay retail for him by no means, but scoop him up for $130, have him in hand and see that certain poses can bring the figure closer to screen shots and you'll change your mind.

Perfect, by no means, but not as bad as people make it out to be. Like a lot of sculpts, certain angles look more accurate and others make it look really off. I believe that is the case with Drax body proportions.

I have no doubt HT will release a more refined version of Drax. All the other Guardians got another release. HT is probably busy making a new mould for Drax thus the delay.

I don't have hate for the figure. For me (and probably most others) it all comes from disappointment. HT is a premium company that kills it 9 times out of 10. But such an obvious miss like this is pretty poor, hence the disappointment.

The addition of a second sculpt would fit with a second iteration of Drax, just so there is a reason to buy him, although just a headsculpt wouldn't necessarily sway me. The body is what it's about for me. The could leave the current headsculpt as far as I'm concerned. It's pretty good.

However simply adding a different pair of blue pants for Vol2 will see very few sales. In hindsight I'm praying that was actually just a placeholder....

I really hope you're right. Considering the effort they have put into Starlord Vol 2 and Yondu (both with Deluxe versions) a change to the Drax body should be easy.

At my work, injection moulding tools have a typical lead-time of about 20 weeks max. So say half a year rounding up. I'm guessing this is why there was a delay with the first one, especially if there were tool changes etc due to signoff issues ??Who knows.

But the issue now is of course the cost. Could they cover the cost of a mould change/new mould with new Drax sales. That would be the burning question.

In the war against visible joints, I would love to see a deluxe Drax 2.0 with an AoU Hulk style switch-out torso. It’s a long shot but fingers crossed.

Maybe if they at least added bigger arms and fill in the groin area some. The shoulders too. I mean how hard is that to modify?

Wouldn’t be to hard if not for the scarification. That has been the main production issue with Drax.

I just can't get past Drax's headsculpt and build. Neither resemble Bautista. I mean, I wanna love this figure, but every time I see it, I see a figure of a man with an average build covered with gang tattoos, not the Drax we all know and love.

Do you have this? The HS is spot on.

Exactly. To add more muscle mass it is metal off the tool. But it would mean doing the tattoos in that area again. However it could also be that a modification is not possible and the whole tool would need to be redone.

Headsculpt is OK for me. Would only want the upper body modded and maybe arms.

But no doubt they haven't seen huge sales of the original, which means they think it's not worth doing any changes, other than pants colour and a different gun. Not really inspiring for a purchase either.

To me a body change is the only way to get decent sales of him again. It's an equivalent of a different headsculpt from a marketing perspective. Aimed at upgraders, and people who weren't impressed by the original or the wait was too long for the first.

To me he's a classic character, and considering he has Avengers 4 & GotG 3 to come it would be worth their while.
