Sorry, I was relaxed I was just confirming the question and I agree fully.
For 40 years + I have been devoted to the legacy of Luke and Star Wars. It has had a vast influence on my life so even the background characters from these movies have huge signifance.

I cannot wait to get this figure. For me personally this is the end of Luke's journey when he redeems his father. That is my own opinion and decision I suppose. I just cannot accept the poor choices made in the new films. Trust me, I take no pleasure in typing that. It's heart breaking in fact. I can only presume that is why the debate rears up in inappropriate threads.

The fat suit makes him look like he's wearing a diaper. That's coming right off, even if I have to re-sew the whole damn outfit to fit. Will be making a new belt from real leather that is actually one piece, not chopped in half like the monstrosity he comes with. Also, those baggy boots...no way. Will have to pad the ankles out. He's got the most simple outfit but they've still managed to balls it up. The mind boggles.

Looks like the SS version proto got the belt right at least. Equipped with two adjustable belt holes for the vest and DS looks and no overlapping Velcro strip in the back. May just have to pick it up for some extras.

People are going to be after those SS belts.

Prototypes, people... PROTOTYPES. The Luke Snowspeeder production belt had issues, not sure why people would believe any different for the Luke Jedi.

It's like everyone who hasn't been tracking SSC protos then getting the prod fig in-hand are suddenly like "Ooo... look at this Sideshow figure!"

The boots don't look as bad as the HT Han boots were though.

The Snowspeeder Luke outfit is fabulous. Sideshow do make some amazing 1/6 costumes.

That's funny because half the people in the Luke Snowspeeder thread were like "meh, I'll wait for HT." Now it's like "now, SSC... there's a company who knows how to make a 1/6 Luke." Fickle people, fickle.

SSC always has better clothing. They are the masters at tailoring . What they need to work on is the base body underneath. Whatever the reason they don’t want to develop a aesthetic looking body to handle the extreme detail they put in their clothing and accessories.

Why I like HT TT, is the body moves so naturally so when you pose the character it looks like a real person posed. Don’t get me wrong, SSC bodies lately have been vastly improved, but they are still not quite there yet.

SSC paint scheme is not the best either, sometimes the bad paint loses the realism in the hs

Is this a common view? That recently SSC does the better tailoring and HT the better sculpts? The last one is obviously true, but I also feel like I’ve been happier with SSC tailoring than HT recently.

That's funny because half the people in the Luke Snowspeeder thread were like "meh, I'll wait for HT." Now it's like "now, SSC... there's a company who knows how to make a 1/6 Luke." Fickle people, fickle.

Pretty sure all those people are the armchair critics who didn't PO, then got pissed the run was shorted so missed out completely, and are now pulling out the good old "Hot Toys will do it better" chestnut. Seems the vast majority who actually got the figure are all saying it (helmeted) is one the their favourite star wars figures full stop. To me it is still one of the best OT figures of any company.

But, and this is a big one, the unhelmeted head is not that great and if that was how the figure came, then yeah, it would not have been received to well. And that's the fear with the SSC RotJ Luke. If that head fails then the figure fails. Personally I think this Hot Toys head lacks any life in the pics thus far. It looks plastic. But I've got it ordered and paid for and as is often the case, in hand can tell a different story. If the SS suit turns out better I can see myself picking that up and putting the HT head on it for the throne room and the SS head on this Hot Toys and cover it with the robe.

Problem is SS proto is always nice. It’s production that ruins it.

To me SS simply picked the better fabric for the black undersuit. Even the stitching looks better.

I should know this by now, but alas, I do not. Since it appears sellers in HK are shipping this figure out now, generally speaking, when could we expect Sideshow to? I’m really hoping this will be here in time for my fiance’s 30th birthday in late July.

Honestly, as much as this figure doesn't look horrible, I would say it doesn't look like HT's best effort and given how unexpectedly fast he came out, and how many other things HT is trying to pump out right now and how many things are trickling out slowly, it's not surprising, I'm not sure this got the level of effort it might otherwise get from them, wouldn't shock me if some of the shortcomings with the costume were improved on the Endor release and they probably figure, put the vest on him, it's mainly a Jabba's Palace Luke.

All I'm saying about Sideshow is I've been through the SSC Luke Hoth, Luke X-Wing and Luke Snowspeeder - and Han Hoth in there too - and they just simply doon't know how to land a high-end headsculpt. Each had very good to amazing protos (oh, that Luke X-Wing head proto - ahhh, if only,) but ended up soft sculpts, below-par apps and a general weirdness in production, usually the eyes but not always.

Yes, helmeted the orange Lukes look great (why that is is open to interpretation,) but as an exposed Luke head, SSC has NEVER done it successfully. You can buy the new SSC DX Luke Jedi for the outfits, and that's fine - I'm just saying the head is going to be useless (even the proto looks a bit odd.)

What if SideShow Jedi Luke turns out great this time ? Game changing/big efforts from them and blew away Hot Toys version instead ?

I think HT Luke is a sculpt with a neck, and Sideshow Luke is a sculpt without a neck.

I'm going to get a Ganghood 2.0 to make a second figure from the Sideshow parts.

If HT Endor Luke has an improved outfit then the outfit can be donated to the upcoming HT Luke, and the badly fitting one can go under the HT poncho.
