Finally got to Michaels to pick up paints, did some work on the darker of the light shades to his under belly and sides, still a ways to go.

Also, just started really, but wanted to show the claw striping underway.

I made my own version of Jurassic Park: The Ride. Based on the other items in the photo, I think this was 1996? 1997? It had to have been after the Ride opened at Universal, but before I rode it in '98.

I'm having the ridiculous urge to re-make this now. (I do have a brand-new Knex Roller Coaster set stashed away. These Mattel Dinos might be the perfect excuse to break it out... :wink1:

cool! anybody else got that jurassic park set up with the fences and the control tower? Loved that as a kid.

Are you painting the whole thing light first and then going back over the upper half section with the darker browns and spots?

Dude.... you should have gave it base coat of primer first. They sell that in testors section of michaels.

Yeah I would also recommend attempting to disassemble it as much as possible using heat, then prime and go from there. I would find a good base color and just spray the whole thing, then go into detail with the coloring. Looking forward to the progress.

Yeah, normal professional paints require washing to get rid of hand oils and dirt, then primer, a base undercoat and then work up the colors to desired affect.

A primer may have spared me some paint but doesn’t seem necessary, one thing I’ll definitely do when done is apply a sealer.

yeah I always use sealer but never really prime anything expect the house walls LoL

Speaking of repaints, here's a quick shot of a Grant figure I touched up. I couldn't abide by those green pants particularly. Gotta love these figures though. The nostalgia factor is strong.

Very nice, I’m good with the stock colors but the plastic seems waxy, your touch ups make it feel more like fabric.

Last night I worked on the base color of the teeth and the yellow of the eyes, have some touch ups to do on one eye tonight then add the pupils, then add weathering to the teeth and start on the inner mouth and tongue.

It's very simplified but this is my completed skin pattern guide, not all of it intended to be exact, this was just an exercise to map out the approximate patterns to capture, shades, etc, and also apply patterns from the animatronic and statue repaints to this specific toy.

Watching the latest Fallen Kingdom behind the scenes footage, it seems like they see Rexy as like banana colors, even the animatronic is painted with a different color pallete than what was used in 93.

These are not the right colors.

Wow that bottom shot is laughable.

All they needed to do was at least make Rexy color accurate for me to even give a little bit of a **** about these new films and they refuse to even do that.
