Re: Molecule8 (New company)

I zoomed in on the windows but couldn't see any figures inside. You can just make out a big pile of money in the small bedroom.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

One thing I have not seen anyone bring up is how durable this "skinned" body is going to be. I have a number of Phicen figures and if you leave them in any sort of pose (not even that dramatic) they start to have issues. I left one of my ladies in a pose with her arm straight out in front of her, not even that exaggerated, like she was throwing a dagger and left her like that for about 2 and half weeks and saw that the "flesh" under her armpit was starting to tear.

Now all of my Phicen's stand in very neurtral poses on the shelf. I will mess around with them, put them in a few poses, maybe leave it like that for a few hours or overnight and then return them to a neutral pose so as not to damage their skins.

We have not actually seen that really cool skeleton do a whole lot of posing (or balancing for that matter) so I wonder what the actual posing intentions for the figures would be. I am most excited about Legolas but I would have him firing his bow which would eventually shred the skin at his elbows/armpits if left too long unless they have developed something beyond the Phicen skins.

Also really want to know what their plan is for hair on figures like Legolas. Real hair is something I really want to see innovation for. Legolas is really covered up with layers of awesome outfits so the skinned body for him is absolutely unnecessary.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

The potential for the skin to deteriorate is a concern for me too.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Well we only have to wait until Friday to see if they keep Promise #1: full reveal of the Lennon sculpt.

Pots#586
Here's all the info I got today guys.

Will you be able to translate KA Kim's Lennon masterpiece sculpt into the factory produced one? will it still capture that detail?

We believe so yes Lee. You will see a prototype this week. M

(I asked how long Lennon had been worked on)

It's been worked on since last year
But we kept very quite until we knew we had it right and could start sharing with people.
Prototype will be showed this week.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

The figure is said to include "Interchangeable hands for various gestures" so won't it look like a Phicen body? If they cover the body in silicone, I hope they can match the skin tone to the head sculpt and hands. If they can't do that then the body is a waste. I already feel it isn't necessary considering the ab, shoulder, elbow, and knee joints will be covered. The last thing you'd want is a body that is deteriorating. If that happens, you better hope they offer a replacement body ($$$) or that their head sculpt, hands, and feet are compatible with other bodies on the market :thud:

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

paypal only will cover if they don't supply the item for 6 months after the purchase date. or if it arrives damaged. it doesn't cover not being happy w/ a sculpt or the final product not meeting expectations.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Not sure if this is considered custom either.....PayPal does it not cover custom

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

How long are you pioneers covered by PayPal?

AS of October 14, 2014 buyers have 180 days to file a Merchandise Dispute (if item was not received or it was significantly different than described). Paypal is notorious for siding with the buyers. So I am not at all worried about getting my money back should the need arise.

Yeah you should know within that time frame whether or not this is the real deal.

They have the license, or so they claim. Take a screen shot of them saying that and you should be fine either way.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

The other point about the skin is the claim that the skeleton has been designed to achieve more realistic deformation around the elbow joints, ie more of a point than a broad bend. In other words, a satisfying looking point that will place a substantial amount of stress on the silicone.

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

Going by the link posted on an earlier page, the joints are not seamless like a Phicen. Its like a truetype muscle body only silicon rather than plastic (as far as I can tell).

Re: Molecule8 (New company)

It should appeal to their readers, with their desire to turn everything back to at least the early 1970s.
