See, I love those Toy Galaxy reviews. Dan is the man. If I made reviews, that's exactly how I'd do it (sardonic and cynical personality and all).

His versus videos are great. They're what made me jump on the SH figuarts Luke bandwagon. I also like thoseflea market finds videos.

Some people on Facebook seem to think it's not the Celebration version, but instead a non-foil version. If that's the case it seems a little strange they would re-release it as a stand alone and not in a wave. Guess we'll have to wait and see when the Hasbro one arrives.

I would actually way rather have a non-foil version so he matches up better with the rest of the 40th collection, but somehow I doubt this is the case.

I bought the foil version at Celebration, but would much rather have it non-foil so it looks more like the vintage Kenner packaging.

I don't mind them, they're short and concise instead of rambling on and on, I just want to see the toy, what's the fixation with recording yourself?

Just don't take half the run-time of the video and it'll be fine, in fact, I've seen him bringing it up a couple times in his videos since people complain about it too often

That's one of the sins of toy reviews, it ties with having nasty finger nails but at least I'm able to see the toy that way. The worst of all is handling the figure WHILE you're recording yourself :

I just snapped up an R5 on eBay. When my wave 1 hits from bbts I'll be all caught up. Picked up a second partial set at target but can't bring myself to open them either. I just love the carded bubble. So nostalgic!!!

Wondering if we'll ever see an XWing Luke or R5 official release in merry old England. Perhaps Hasbro will release one for London Film and Comic Con like they did last year with the limited Obi Wan set.

I was and still am up for the 12 but the two extras do tempt me at the right price. Xwing Luke was my first figure. For my birthday in 1980 I got an Xwing Luke that morning. Later we went into town and I was allowed to pick out a full set of the 21 back figs (the artoo had the sensor scope) so seeing the Luke card back brings warm, fuzzy memories but the prices on EBay, I could get a used Hot Toys figure for that!!!

Im right there with you. Love his reviews cause theyre short, to the point and have personality without being annoying.

The prices on the 40th anniversary figures are just insane, to the extent that I have to believe that Hasbro has a hand in the scalping market. This is a well known practice with the scalping of concert tickets, where promoters, talent, etc. artificially limit the availability of seats and then sell them through back channels to take a sizeable piece of the resale market. Currently, here in Australia, consumer watchdogs are investigating Ticketmaster's resale website for just such activity.

In our case, there is a completely intentional 'limited' production of figures (and/or 'exclusive' editions) to leave the market dry and collectors seriously hungry (and we all know there's no collector hungrier than a Star Wars collector denied). Hasbro then supplies a select group of (online) sellers with bulk lots of figures, who sell them way above retail on the secondary market to meet 'demand', and Hasbro makes a killing on the 'resale'.

I mean - is this a hobby, or the calculated milking dry of the fan base?

It's clear how Ticketmaster can profit (when they own one of the resale sites) but not sure how Hasbro makes a killing on online seller sites they don't own.
