Muay Thai -- amateur. Had a few fights, got old. :lol

Martial arts gyms are often full of nerds; it's all the Kung Fu movies and superhero comics that take us there.

Very true. When we had our annual member meeting at my Karate dojo one of the senior members in charge of the meeting ended it with May the force be with you. :yes

True enough. Now I think about it, I've seen stars, been knocked down (by a head-kick) but got right back up and kept fighting. I would expect at least as much from our favourite goons, but they were made to suffer. It's their lot in film. :rotfl

We can now consider the bubble of cool of martial arts popped. Blame Mr. Miyagi - I'm sure there's a custom 1/6 fig of him somewhere on here.:rotfl

Ironically enough, the Chirrut character appears to be inspired by the blind mentor in the series "Kung Fu" - though it's a pretty tired martial arts cliche to be blind - like in the Rutger Hauer movie Blind Fury.

I got to talking one day with a guy who was a cage fighter, but he seemed like he was on speed and a little scary. Maybe cage fighting still has an unhinged edge.:dunno:lol

Meh. Cage, ring...difference is psychological, very slightly strategic. You can use the ropes a little more than a cage to propel you or whatnot; in theory the cage means you can get 'trapped' but truth is, you don't want to be on the ropes generally speaking anyway. Doesn't matter if it's chain-link or ropes, you want to control the space, ideally.

Fighters are a mixed bag. The game attracts what you might expect -- the weak and fearful, bullies and sadists. But those people tend not to last. After that the temperaments range from business-like, to magnanimous, to pugnacious, but you -- generally speaking -- don't get far without modulation.

The one thing I've always appreciated about the community in general, is how polite everyone is. Not that much room for ego or posturing.

I'm hard-pressed to think of any fighter I've ever met who I was afraid of, but many whose capabilities I respected.

I was trying to talk myself into pre-ordering the Deluxe versus the Regular from Sideshow...then I saw that the Regular has gone to Waitlist (at least for now) so that closed the deal on the Deluxe for me.

I didn't expect this to go on the waiting list either. Love the deluxe but not keen on the base.

Decided to order chirrut standard from timcent for the very first time. Didn't want to wait for sideshow or bbts to get there stock. Very stoked to get him in whenever he arrives I heard he ships pretty fast and is really reliable and good. I don't normally do this either.

Probably in a few weeks I'd say considering he released in HK a fews ago.

Amazing there is absolutely no Rogue One Hot Toys for sale on Sideshow ! They must have kept their runs extremely low. Guess they had no idea how popular it would be, so played it safe.

Yeah, it's their new search function. Really bad.

I think they purposely make it hard to find Hot Toys Star Wars stuff to promote their own. In particular the pre-order figures.

I'm only seeing the Deluxe version of Chirrut at Sideshow at the moment.

Received it ! [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]
