Re: My Ford and Hamill headsculpts (update pg 8)

Indeed, I wondered that too, if you have worked any more on your Hamill sculpt it would be good to see. I thought it was as good as the Fords sculpts and again, better that most of the commercial ones too.

Thanks. Unfortunately I never did any other work on the Hamill sculpt since it ended up way oversized, and I would have had to start from the beginning again like I did Ford. And with HT (hopefully) releasing their own Jedi Luke soon it just didn't seem like it would be worth the effort. Especially when all I had to put mine on was the crappy Sideshow outfit. Lol

I admit I have been really wanting to make another attempt at it though, and could use the extra practice, so I might sculpt a new one anyway just for the hell of it. :)

Do it! Keep those skills sharp!

The latest attempt on Ford looks so much better. He doesn't seem to have the same squared chin and his nose actually looks more accurate - shows the broken nose more.

... and HT did such a wonderful job on their ANH Han and Luke too. :monkey3

Thanks. It's still a bit more generic and undefined than I'd like, but it at least feels like I got the basic shape about right now. I've actually done some more work since then but haven't taken any pics yet.

How's the size on Deckard? Really like to see that released!

Not really sure what figures others here have, but it's about the same size or a smidge smaller than the Hoth Han head I think. Definitely smaller than the original Sideshow Indy head, which is all I really care about!

I'll try taking some comparison pics later.

Ha yeah, but we always like to start out hopeful and optimistic that their next figure will be one of the great ones. :D

amazing work - i would be interested in purchasing Ford - please consider doing a release!
also you have done a vader sculpt?

Re: My Ford and Hamill headsculpts (update pg 8)

Decided to do some more work on this thing. Although I was getting bored with the Deckard look so figured I'd turn him into an ANH Han this time.

Not sure if I'm really getting any closer, but it's still fun to try at any rate. And any tips or advice people want to give is welcome. :)

And not sure this will ever be good enough to use on the HT figure, but here's a comparison anyway:

Oh and I also just started up a new Luke sculpt as well (although this time with more of an ESB look instead of ROTJ), since the last one I did was just too freakin enormous. It's still VERY early though so I'm sure there's a lot that still needs to be done on it.

Love the messy hair look on luke, awesome job on the likeness too. Definitely interested if you offering it in the future.

I think you have the likeness nailed on both. Han is up there with Jinx and Luke is better than anything else out there. Only thing I would do now is refine them a little by adding more detail to the hair and eyebrows if you can. Hair can make or break a sculpt and your shape is good, it just needs more detail like the HT Luke.

Then...bake...cast...paint...watch the orders flow in.

Thanks guys. And yeah sculpting that shaggy, feathery, 70s hair is almost as challenging as sculpting the faces themselves! I'll see if I can refine everything some more and add some of that much needed detail.

I think luke is pretty close, han has a bit too much of an elvis presley mouth. It's the thing I don't like about jinx sculpt either.

Yeah I know it's not the most original expression for a Ford sculpt (and very similar to Jnix's), but I was still dying to change it up from the dour and serious expressions I had been giving him. I realize it still needs some work though and the lip might be curled up a bit too much. And I can see the cheek bones are still a bit too wide as well.

Here's the basic expression I was going for btw:
