The only BIG problem this film has is that some jokes (like the one around Wong's name) and scenes (like Wong preps to defend HK Sanctum) were unnecessary while the character development dept lacked some build up of relationship between Strange, Mordo and the Ancient One.

Then there's the lack of magical combat. While it is cool to see a mix between magic and martial arts... throw some fireballs, for ****s sake!

Then there's score. It's bland and forgetable as ****. Giacchino has a bit of talent to create good music but for the most part he sucks ass (outside of the animated stuff for kids).

The comedy was atrocious.

.

Yeah, the bad guys just kept using those large glass/ice picks.

Where was this?

Best part of this flick was hearing Interstellar Overdrive in IMAX. :panic: :thud:

Visuals were pretty kewl. Prolly the best use of 3D in the modern era. I don't know much about Strange, but thought Hannibal should have easily bested him. I wanted to see more magical battles. Most of the jokes were bad. His time spell thingy will prolly undo everything Thanos does, which is going to be weak.

7.5/10

Logan trailer played, dead silence in the sold out huge theater I was in.

My packed theater didn't respond to any trailer that played: logan, ww, rouge one.

But then again, I recall Deadpool just getting dead silence during all it's trailers, and we saw how that turned out...

Just returned from my 2nd viewing and i'm now confident saying that the 3D really added nothing to the movie, there wasn't enough different forms of magic used and yeah the music was almost non existent and I could've done without the Beyonce joke but overall the humor was not eye rolling bad like it was in DP.

I still give it a positive score though.

Strange certainly has better taste in exotic cars than Stark.

Stark is sponsored by Audi. Although Lambo is made by Audi so....hahaha

"It should also be noted that with Doctor Strange's impressive performance so far, Walt Disney Studios has surpassed the $6 billion mark at the global box office for the first time ever."

So corporations continue to get richer off mediocre content.

Its almost more depressing than Chinese Theater chains now encouraging people to text and talk during movies.

And here I thought the humor felt more natural in DS than it did in some other recent Marvel movies. I thought the cloak in particular was pretty darn funny.

I'll never get over how stupid that scene is in Ultron where Bruce falls face-first into Widow's boobs...

Great movie with a clear coherent story, this is a very difficult character to bring to the big screen. And it could have been much worse. Disney did an excellent job

As a comics fan I was never a big Doctor Strange fan and only started liking him during the Guice run. The character has never been very physical and I'm glad they tried to add a little physicality into the movie. The action made sense characterwise, and they even had the wand of watoomb. The ending was not as light as other Marvel films as he is now the keeper of the New York branch of mystic arts. Something that Strange does not seem ready for.

I hope we see less martial arts and fighting and just see him use his powers in his next film. And no magic whip either.

Pretty darn good- visuals set a new standard in the WOW factor. Benedict was superb as Strange. The humor was...pretty forced and bad. The love story was pretty bland and stagey I thought- hope she goes away and Strange starts making passes at Black Widow
