Valid point. Also it's a cool predator statue I suppose, it just does not look like Jungle hunter from P1, and could have been vastly improved in my eyes, but hey to each their own. If someone likes it enough to buy it all the more power to them, can't deny someone their own opinion or choice.

It's like this with so many statues. Some love it, some hate it. People critique them, but you're preaching to the choir. SS isn't listening either. If you like it, buy it. If you don't like it, pass. Either way the exact same debate will start with the next statue. I guess that's why this place is here, so people can keep repeating themselves. I won't even bring up the famous Einstein quote that pertains to this.

You could say that about nearly every statue. This one just happens to be a showcase piece we have waited a decade for and they did poorly on it.

Oh, and Einstein did not say that quote you are thinking of, it is a myth. Plus it wouldn't apply here anyway. We don't expect a different outcome(especially from SS), just a place to vent frustrations.

I did say it was about "so many statues". The hardcore Predator people are always the ones who expect something they'll like and hate what they end up with. That is where I use the quote, "The Definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results". What I mean by that is getting something different from what you expect, you're disappointed every time. So yea, it does fit.

As for the quote -
This quote is generally attributed to Einstein in most online quote collections, however there seems to be significant debate about the authenticity of this attribution. Others like Mark Twain, an old Chinese proverb and Benjamin Franklin have also been suggested as the originators, but general consensus concludes that they have a significantly lesser claim than Einstein.

At least if people can start on me, I can distract all of you from your disappointment...

Found a throwback picture not sure if it helps or hinders any decision on this guy but the predator surely wasn't lean. https://www.sideshowtoy.com/behind-the-mask-of-the-predator/

let me start off saying I am not a Predator Expert. Just a guy who likes the movie and the Predator character. Just saying this so you don;t laugh me out of the thread :)

Anyways body wise I think the Maquette looks close to the film. Comparing pic 1 and 2 show this IMO. I think the Maquette looks lean becasue the Helmet looks too large.. Now I think some of the issue with SSC order pics is that the Helmet is not on fully and becasue of the 2D formate the helmet being off the head just a little makes it just a tad closer to the camera and thus looks bigger... Kind of like how they did the Hobbit effects in LOTR.

The Third pic I posted is the Helmet on fully at SDCC and while it still looks a bit too large it does look much better and not as large.

Having said all of the that... I know that wont change any minds... Personally other then the leg armor I think this looks great. Yes it's not perfect. Very few statues are. I think this has a great chance of looking great in hand. People that saw this at SDCC seem to think it was very impressive. Will have to wait and see :)

I thought I was done with Predator stuff. (It's what got me started). But always said if P1 maquette came out again I'd get one. So ordered.

Yeah Jaws, if the mask was smaller the body would look better proportioned.
Looks bigger every time I see it.

The pics I seen from SDCC look much better but it is too large. The SSC pics make the Helmet really look too large in some of the shots. Having said that its not a make or break for me as I am not sure I would have noticed if it was not pointed out. I always thougnt the Helmet looked kind of big in the BTS shots. Still the Maquettes is too large.. Hope it looks better in person but if it looks the same I am OK with that.

Is this from the first or third film.. Head looks more long like the maquette so I assume it;s the third film.. Almost wonder if SSC designed it after the third film.

Nice reference pics Jaws. I think overall the statue looks comparatively a lot more accurate when you remove all the lighting and angles from the movie that most people are used to. Aside from the thigh armor issue...

I swear - based on responses here and elsewhere - preorders would double if they fixed that thigh armour.

.

Add me to the not getting it list, just gonna get the original p1 maquette.

Reasons: price eh, sculpt issues + complete faith in SS doing a poor production job like last time

I think the head looks best proportioned without the bio. I think the thigh armor might look more in place if viewed from the very front, which is not really how the statue is intended to be viewed but just a thought. Really think it looks great, still don't know how ss missed the spine trophy though. I guess that's an easy add on after people get the statue, however; you shouldn't have to add it.

I agree. Now that I am home I can download the pics better. Statue is not as off as originally believed.

Here is what I assume is the Predators "jungle Predator" looks much more like the statue as it also seems to have an elongated face compared to the original.

It's not perfect but not the abomination that some are claiming also :)

No worries - I hadn't counted you in any column so far as you hadn't stated anything categorically.

Who has called it an "abomination"?

It's still as "off" as we've always said it was - it hasn't changed :)

This is not supposed to be the "Classic" predator from PREDATORS.

I was thinking of one persons comments. I should have said Not the abomination someone seems to think it is...

I am not making excuses for the face sculpt looking like PREDATORS... I was just stating that it looks like it looks like it. My "not an abomination" comment was about the statue as a whole.

I hold nothing against the valid criticism here...

Hell I am not a Predator Freak like most of you guys.. I am just giving my two cents :)
