if it was $500, the first question would be "why is it so small for that price", then the color scheme, and only then - checking any differences with a movie variant under a microscope.
but for $100 it's the best alien representation existing. and with a giant constructor base.

I wonder when Kotobukiya will bring out the 1/6 scale big chap....

Bring it on koto!

Make my hot toys sacrifice worth it! There's no other big chap alien as a figure in 1/6 !

Well, just to take part in the all the fun, here's a couple of quick side by side pics of the Koto statue and the NECA figure I took with my iPhone this morning:

Please excuse the crappy pics, I was in a bit of a hurry.

When I first started posing the NECA figure to imitate the Koto statue, the NECA alien's mouth was more open, but I decided to close it more to get the closest look to the Koto and I ended up altering the pose slightly. The NECA can actually lean forward a bit more at the waist, and still keep its balance.
Another little detail is that this is my "spare" alien, it's the one with flaws: the left elbow is stuck, the neck has less movement than my other NECA Giger alien, and it has a slightly wonky jaw... otherwise, I think I could've gotten the pose even closer. The wire in the NECA figure's tail doesn't go down to the tip, so I couldn't curl it up.

The knees can be brought together more to get Bolaji's odd posture, you just have to heat the legs and put an elastic band around them, but I couldn't be bothered.

Of course the Koto statue has a fluidity to the pose that I doubt even a Phicen figure could replicate, but, all in all, not bad.

I think I might try to get a full repaint of the NECA alien and see just how much is lost under those cheap paint apps. While the Koto sculpt is much more finely detailed (the softer plastic used by NECA's factory really hurts the neatness and precision of the sculpt), the NECA figure does have a fantastic sculpt, and I think a better paint app can really bring it out. I might also try to take it apart and fix the right hip that juts out and gives it that wide-hipped look.

just opened mine.
the thing is so beautiful that i want another one immediately!

Great work on the pics guys! Mine has shipped from Method House and I am looking forward to it.

Kotobukiya is doing an Alien Bundle Flash Sale for both Big Chap and Warrior for $100.

Alien Bundle Flash Sale

Can't argue with that. Makes up for the less than stellar paint apps on the Warrior (and I know I'd want that one if I have the other two). I'm in! Now to find a Doggy...

EDIT: Noticed that "each bundle additionally will also unclude an assortment of Alien related goods." Wonder what that entails.

Mother effer they would do that right after I buy another chap for 100....
exactly my case.
i bought a second for $115 (shipping is expensive to me) yesterday. this set is $150 for me.
if they were selling 2 A1s for that price, i'd do it immediately.
p.s. whoever started calling A1 figures "big chap" should name himself "big crap".

perfect job on giving them same poses.

silicone ice tray, eating sticks... just check ebay for "kotobukiya alien".

Alien 3 gets the name ''Dragon''.
ok. i'll edit my first variant:
whoever decided to give movie monster toys names, like they are dogs, should just get some dogs and kids and call them whatever stupid names he wants.

At least 'Dragon' is the name given to the Alien by characters in a movie. 'Big Chap' is a film-crew joke that somehow became official.
