I have a man cave that is decidedly Thor based. It's called the Thor cave. I have the first 100 Thor comics, and then probably 60% of every Thor comic ever made. I have just about every Thor statue you can imagine and prop replicas out the wazoo. All Thor. I have read almost every Thor comic ever written and drawn.

ChunkyZergling isn't exactly incorrect. He has a decent argument in what Thor has looked like and there is a disconnect between the costume brought to us by Olivier Coipel and the facial structure of the Modern Thor PF. The chin is not square. The features of very deep making the lines in his face look older in pictures and somewhat in person. Pre release this statue was highly criticized for it's EX, the fruity left arm pose (Despite the fact he is swinging like a pro baseball pitcher) and the old man Thor look.

In hand, like most statues, things are seen as a whole and. They knocked this statue out of the park as a mixed media modern statue to place along the new Marvel SSC statues. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want the face of this and the Batman PF to not have so many deep lines in their face. But at the end of the day, he looks awesome.

Having said that, ChunkyZergling made a huge mistake trying to got an assertive post into an absolute post based on arrogance.

This sentence here, it is everything wrong with the old Pop Culture regime and the new one as well. "Facts" and "Truth" by an individual opinion. Ending a conversation with it is even worse. Insulting someone at the end of it, Well you just need to shake your head and move on.

With the amount of different artists that have worked on Thor over the years, there is no definitive Thor. Each artist brings their own take on Thor when they do a run on the book. One of my favorite Thor artists is Ribic. The head sculpt on this modern Thor very much reminds me of his work which is why I like it so much. I have zero issues with a sculptor using whatever artistic reference he/she wants. They can mix era's, costumes, and artist. I don't care, especially when we get a statue that looks as amazing as the one we got.

Again, I don't believe there is a definitive version of any character that been around as long as Thor and had a slew of great artists working on a book. One man's definitive Thor may be Simonson, another may be Buscema, another Copiel, or my personal favorite...Ribic. I'm OK with any or all of these artists being used to create a Thor statue.

All this talk about comics, and what people have read and collected, yet this image of Thor is literally right there on the cover of vol. 3 no. 1, even the pose. The only thing different is the spinning hammer.

IMO, this is Copiel's Thor with Ribic's portrait. Either way, it's a phenomenal looking PF in the end.

Thor arrived today... the leather Hammer strap was broke, It was previously and glued back on so I contacted seller.

Anyways... WOW!!! What a beautiful piece. Such a dynamic looking piece. Really pleased with it except for the strap. I was very wrong about this piece when the preview pics came out. I love the face sculpt... No issue look of his age or anything. Love the tailoring and the look of his armor. This was another one of those SSC home runs... Even if they had to do a quick fix for the base.

Yeah, this is a seriously underrated piece. Everything about it looks great. Sorry to hear about the broken strap. Are you going to return it?

Maybe you misread my intention of the post, friend. I never tried to state a definitive Thor for the statue, just that if there's one thing I could change on this it would be the deep definitive lines on the face. Having said that I agree I just saw what he was trying to say but failed in the execution of absolutes. I was trying to be an ombudsman, if you will.

Thor Volume 3 #1 was without a doubt the model of this statue, but to me I would say it looks a heck of alot like Djurdjevic's Thor.

I agree it's a mashup of different artists styles. In the end, I'm thrilled with the final results.

This is an underrated piece.. No doubt.

No way am I returning... Seller gave me a 40.00 rebate which is fine. It's not all that noticeable and some paint should do the trick. I got this for too great a price to return it. I freaking love this piece LOVE IT!!!.

Congrats, that's a great price for such a fantastic PF.

Seriously I can't get over how great this piece is. I have been collecting higher end pieces for over 10 years and this reminds me of the feeling I got when I first got into this hobby. When nothing could prepare you for the greatness of seeing it in hand, of having it in your home, and displayed on your shelves. Seeing it in person is a treat and I could not be happier...

Question... Does the Red peg part of the cap go all the way down into the shoulder... Mine does not seem to... But it looks OK so I assume that it is correct?

Mine doesn't either. I think that's how it's supposed to be. Just barely pulling off his shoulder like it's in motion.

Looks great Jaws, congrats! Glad you like him. He's super under-appreciated IMO.

I am not saying this is my fav statue in my collection... But it is the best statue in my collection. From the sculpt, pose, material, base, paint face sculpt, and coloring it is just absolutely perfect.

I am not a huge Thor fan... One would think I would say this about my Hulk statues or one of my movie based pieces. But this Thor looks the best all around. So happy I pulled the trigger!

I'm with you, Jaws. I think back to how much I dogged on this when pictures first came out. I can't remember what finally made me order it, but I was almost in awe of how great it turned out. I think all my statues are cool but Thor is amazing!! I don't see how SS could've done any better...except the base F up. Like you said, not my favorite character either but the best statue in my collection.
