the only thing I don't like SS much is often the prototype and the final product don't look the same at all.... they are wildly different... just like recent The Punisher figure. Hope they don't do that on this figure.

FINALLY!!!! Vader can do a front double bicep!!! And can finally go over 9000! (DBZ)

Well this redo of the Sideshow Darth Vader figure definately looks and feels like Vader has been busy in the gym. The new under suit is very thick and gives Lord Vader the right amount of thickness while not making him look fat or chunky.

A drawback to the new suit is that it can be a lil harder to put on the hands now but that's because the amount of room between the glove and suit is minimal (the way it should be). I found the figure was sturdier than my deluxe. I worried because this was a rehash and after my experience with Jango Fett (which I love but found cheap in some areas) that sideshow would have some shoddy workmanship...but I found this to be better than the deluxe even without the new stuff.

I really like the new hands...was never a fan of the hands on belt pose...but I converted and it's actually the pose I have Vader in on display. The lights work amazing...only one switch and it all goes on (I think the deluxe was 2 but can't remember).

I had 2 problems with this figure that I think were also problems with the deluxe version. The feet don't rotate well (ankle rotation) and the codpiece (which visually looks way better) is a bit high I think. Neither things are major flaws for me though. Another fault could be the robes...they are great with this figure...but I felt they may have hung better on the old version. Here is a comparison pic between new version on the left and my deluxe on the right. I sold my deluxe to fund this figure (but kept the stand, parted helmet and box [emoji74])

In comparing this to the Deluxe Vader, the main difference is obviously the suit...but that trickles into how much my posing of the new figure changed. With the deluxe I always had him covered up...legs, arms...I still got good poses out of him but could not get a good looking, menacing Vader with the skinny arms/legs and now I'm noticing how odd the old undersuit looked (kinda like a tight leather pinstripe suit). The gloved hands are also a major upgrade...looking less plasticky and more like a leather glove.

My main gripe really is I could not get my Hot Toys Vader head on it. If anyone could clue me in as to how the HT goes on the SS Vader send me a message PLease!
For those asking about height...he's as big as the deluxe version. It is oversized...check out size comparisons between the deluxe and the HT Vader, which is already a tall figure. But I like it that way...to me if any figure should be oversized in my collection it is Lord Vader.

Overall it is a great upgrade on the SS deluxe. The undersuit makes a ton of difference. Vader is all about presence...with the force, with his commanding voice and with his massive physique. Sideshow did it right here...id go as far as to say that this is better than the Hot Toys in that respect. I was really hoping to show you this Vader with the HT head...but that will be for another day!

Take care collectors!

Looks great, now i just need to try and get one of those deluxe stands.

I think the base is the big knock on this figure. The deluxe was great when I got it...and it would be very hard for me to give up both the base and the parted helmet and heck even the box. I think the base is very appropriate for Darth Vader and again gives the figure just that much more presence. Regardless, I think the price for this figure is a great one and the suit more than makes up for the base.

no. That would be ANH style, this one is ROTJ. He wore it that way in ROTJ (and ESB).

my bad, dont know what i was thinking. :slap
Urr i want this now but i have to wait till next month cuz of avp elder. I also have to get a custom stand made for him too since sideshow has given up on spending any money on stands.

How does this newest SSC figure compare to the HT in terms of height? I vaguely remember someone saying that all the Vaders - SSC ANH, SSC DX, SSC V2 and the HT ANH are all close to the same height (though I think the SSC ANH is a smidge taller than the others.)

This version is the same height as the deluxe and there are plenty of videos comparing the 2. The sideshow version (new and deluxe) a are both taller than the hot toys version.

I still can't get past the Mouth grill on this figure, it's just way too big!

For me it is the eye lenses. I can tell they are much too narrow...I love the bulbous look of the ESB/ROTJ lens.

It seems strange that Bossk gets a new headsculpt for v.2 - and would have been fine (in an EU way) without it - yet here's this Vader that screams for a v.2 new sculpt but they just re-release the old one.

And bebe, are all the gloves on this v.2 Vader new, or just the belt grip ones?

A brand new mold yes. They look a lot better than the old gloves.

New version looks pretty good compared to the deluxe one. Still can't get over the dome though

All of the hands? Or just the belt grip ones?

The glove has completely been redone.
I think there are only 2 new "gestures" which are the belt grip hands and a new "force" hand.

This is the write up for the new Vader

Eight (8) newly sculpted interchangeable hands including:
- One (1) pair of hands for holding belt boxes
- One (1) pair of fists
- One (1) pair of hands for holding lightsaber
- Right 'force' gesture hand
- Left pointer hand

This is the deluxe Vader

So there are hands that the Deluxe has and the new doesn't and vice versa.
