The pics from a distance look pretty good, the closeup pics show the Jockey being a tad too monochromatic with the chair. It's lacking the fossilized bones effect. Had to cancel my PO on this one about a week ago due to a sale gone real bad so I guess I'll look at it only through pics.

Absolutely zero...I mean zero reason to preorder this and pay nrd. Wait for release and see how the factory version looks.

Especially given the colossal f up on the alien predator license one after another release.

As stated earlier....

The production photos look like crap, and those are the ones sideshow handpicked to show to us. I can't believe they used a mono color and just brushstroked over the whole alien.

Agreed, i want to get excited over this piece but just cant with that paint app. I like the sculpture (and size as i have a place for it) but they really couldnt do any better?

And yes these are the proto pics which usually look waaay better than production...yikes! At a discounted price i might be in on this, but not full price, just can't.

Looks way better than HCG Derelict ship which proves that sideshow is not the worst company in terms of paint apps of the final product.

Not sure I like the paint either, but I would still like to see the pics once collectors start posting. Lighting will be different.

The space jockey wasn't exactly colorful ya know.
That's true, but as someone else mentioned earlier in this thread, it's missing that "fossilized look" that the movie implied. The paint doesn't even show age or weathering, just that beige/brown color, all over it.

I like the sculpt just dont know if i can get passed the paintjob on it. Maybe in person shots will look better than the protos.....but im not counting on that.

What happened to the paint job? I hope the final product will be better. I wonder if the painting is done in-house. I guess the Godzilla Marquette set a new tone. They need to hire a new QC manager.

That was, apparently, the production piece. Past experience says their 'Production' photos are better than what you actually receive (Predator 2 Maquette).

They are painted in a Chinese factory.

Looks like it will be a case of do your own touch up's on the paintjob , to give it the character it deserves. I have to agree the sculpt looks good.

How do you know they are painted in a Chinese factory?
