I hadn't made it in here yet tonight as I was checking my email first... and to my surprise I see an email from Sideshow with a subject of "Finger on throat means death!". I yelled out "DRAX!!!!" before I even opened it... my wife comes in the room and just looks at me like I'm nuts. So stoked this was finally confirmed and up for PO! :panic:

Where is Richard Yang....He's been trolling every HT facebook post ever since HT started releasing Guardian of the Galaxy figures. All of a sudden he's got nothing to say LOL. Or perhaps he only has a vocabulary of "What about Drax?" or Where is Drax?" LOL.

For everyone else who's been hoping for this figure, congrats. There is nothing more satisfying as a collector than seeing the PO of a highly coveted figure.

I May order who knows how long a 2nd version will take or even appear in guardians 2 in 2017 sometime.

Same here! I saw the "Finger on the throat" line in the subject and my eyes lit up.

I haven't even unboxed my team waiting on this guy! I wasn't going to sell them but I was unsure if I wanted the partial team. Glad I held onto everything. Now I'll have a serious GotG unboxing session!

It must have! :lol Drax was released, Leo DiCaprio got an Oscar..........

Both long overdue!!

Yes, they have. And now with Drax being shown out of every figure they have ever shown, both unreleased/canned and released, the ones canned account for around 1% of all the prototypes shown. Over 15ish years and nearly 500 released products. Pretty low odds that any one figure will not make it. And this one had even less chance to get shelved. They showed 3 seperate prototypes entirely new designed ones.

With the first class figure they announced what the issue was. You can list the number not released (all three to five) and then I can list the 495ish ones that were. Yet every time a figure is delayed or a prototype takes time to get put up for PO there are people talking about it being cancelled. It's silly. It's like 1 prototpe ever five years on average, that doesn't make it.

In fact the odds are much higher you will die in a transportation accident in the next 12 months then any hot toys figure gets canned in the next 5 years. So, again, stop it with the cancled figure stuff already.

Stop with all the... stuff.. already

I love that Hot Toys actually had a little dig at Richard Yang on their Facebook page! This gives me hope for the 1966 Batmobile still...

What was the dig? I'm not on FB. It seems like he's annoying to the FB regulars but as someone who just checks their page here and there (and doesn't comment/like/etc.) I found it amusing

So will this sell out before hot toys deadpool? Waiting 3 weeks for reward points to hit and want to get both

Damn. I was hoping the delay was to give HT some time to improve the HS and fix the chest. I mean, Drax looks almost happy, and his pecs look droopy. Unfortunately, I gotta pass.

Ordered mine, but I also think the pecs look droopy. I do want a complete team though!

At long last!

Wish there were some pictures of his back and profile, but what we get to see looks good. Here's hoping for one heck of a paint job.....

I am glad someone said something about Richard Yang, because I was about to also. Kind of hilarious. He will probably stop complaining about Catwoman and Batman Returns related merchandise.

It's a lot of factors. Cost, popularity, time, schedule..ect. But there's no reason to completly write off any figure from a modern movie. They just released a villian from iron man 2 last year.

But villains sell much less then hero figures. And they often only last one film. So very little chance of reused tooling. Some, like thanos will get future releases so he's a good risk. Yellow jacket has potential for reuse of parts for another character and it gives them new design and engineering tooling. Ultron prime could have his base body and tooling case molds be reused for ultimate ultron. Mandarin was just a new head and clothing. Electro had the lighting effect trick that can be used on Thor (the Aou hammer effect) and scarlet witch, as well as any future lightning or such figures. It provides those engineering upgrades to their entire product catalog like YJ. Also yellow jacket helps spread the cost of the overall film license out over multiple release. Also why they like doing the busts and cosbaby and other smaller lines. It helps to divide the overall license cost out over multiple products.

Licensed merchandise, especially that with likeness rights, is a very very very complex process.

Cool. That one obnoxious lil dude on Facebook will stop begging and spamming for Drax now.

I hated the movie Ronan design, so I'm not upset they skipped it. I didn't like the Electro design either, so I didn't buy it.

Honestly though, I'd probably buy Ronan, even though I don't love the design.

Electro, on the other hand, is such a poor design to me, I wouldn't want him in any form. He just looked goofy, like he should be in a Shaq super hero movie.

Depends on how wellbthe license perform. Just like how much HT milks the Ironman license and the Dark Knight license.
Are the character selections worthy? Of course not! But they sell.
