I don't think waiting for the ESB or RotJ version is the way to go to circumvent having to make mods. I'm almost certain there will be something on them that people will feel the urge to mod as well.

This is true. The people cracking these heads open and whatnot love doing it. It's part of the reason they collect. They do it for their own satisfaction. And that's totally cool.

I think he looks great stock. Not 100% accurate but I still think he looks amazing. The only real negative is the gloves, I don't know why they didn't do gloved hands like sideshow's.

Absolutely.

That's one of the things that's so cool about this hobby in my opinion, is that there is no single "correct" way to collect. Everyone has their own preferences and tastes. Some people live for modding, others like their figures stock. Most people take them out to display them, some like to keep all of their figures MISB. Some like extremely dynamic poses while others prefer museum-esque poses.

That doesn't just apply to this hobby though. Not one person's thumbprint is going to be exactly the same as the next person's, so to speak. People all have their own preferences and likes.

Do what you like.

But the problem is I thrive on screen or source accuracy to the character. I don't mind doing some painting or sculpting mods on HT, but it seems like every new post somebody is noticing something that this Vader version needs :thud:

that's gonna be with EVERY release... nothing will every be perfect for EVERYONE...

Some are a whole lot closer than others to me out of the box, and some that need modding have things you CAN mod, while others don't. Figs like Vader and SSC 3PO just seem to be hammered right now with mods.:lol

A few things on this Vader are just obviously in need of mods though - the hands/gloves, the chest armor and the shifting up of the belt. I'm pretty sure they will have fixed the hands by the ESB version.

I'm kind of digging him with the Sideshow deluxe cape and robe.

(forgive my old sideshow Leia being there. She's a placeholder. Haha)

Looks nice! The cape drapes pretty nicely. :clap

Although to be honest, I think I would prefer the stock cape and tunic. I like the thicker fabric they used.

i agree 1000%

Just pulled the trigger on Vader. Used the Febuary coupon through SSC. I missed out on that awesome deal through ThinkGeek. I'm not crazy about the gloves, but the rest looks great to me. I'll be happy with one Vader in my collection, so when Hot Toys does the ESB & ROTJ Vaders, I'll most likely pass and just pick up the new gloves if they've improved. Hot Toys is killing my wallet though, since this is my 9th SW figure!

Well, it is missing a 1:6 David Prowse under the helmet.....

My sentiments as well.

I only need one Vader in my collection, as Darth Vader is Darth Vader. My favorite version of him is the ANH version anyway, so I'm more than happy with this figure as my only Vader.
