I really want to get a second 1/4 scale, specifically the snarling lips version. The problem I have is that it's really a crap-shoot if you order online. You don't know which version you'll get, and then there's the QC issues. It took me three attempts to get one with hardly any QC issues (there's a glue spot on the right hand side of the dome, and it's not quite flush with head). What to do?

why dont you contact the shop or the seller and ask if you can have this version you want? i think it would not to difficult for him/her to watch whats in the box indeed it has a window :) i wish you good luck.. i buy mines at ebay and i just said that i want the new version i didnt now that there is a snared version.

I would order a case of two in for us as i'm looking at getting one, but the problem is I'd probably want the snarling lips one as well. it's an even case unfortunately although I could ask if they would swap the lips version out, but i highly doubt it. I don't know why eBay sellers don't say which one they are shipping out, I would if I had them in-stock. But then again I'm not just a seller, I'm a Seller and a Alien fan.

Honestly? Stop buying NECA products, or lower your expectations. (I wish I could be more positive, but having been burned one too many times with NECA... :rolleyes2) I feel for you, though. :(

Regarding Apone, I've heard that Al Matthews is pretty set on not discussing Aliens any more. I got the impression he had 'moved on' and wanted nothing to do with any of it, but my sources could be mistaken? :dunno

I usually order from FP, so I could phone them & ask, they're very good on the CS side of thungs. Are you likely to get any in stock?

Well, call me crazy, but I do think that there's a bias against the Marines on NECA's part. I love what we've got thus far (even if I've had to chop up multiple figures and glue them back together to fix some of the design choices NECA's made), but it does seem rather like the USCM figures are getting treated as an afterthought. I mean, they didn't even bother to get the camouflage pattern on Hudson's helmet screen-accurate, to mention only the most obvious example of sloppiness on their part. VLAGAS also noted up-thread that they apparently stated that they wouldn't make the Sentry Guns because they only appear in the extended version of Aliens, but at the same time, they're releasing a concept version of the original 1979 alien that never appeared in any cut of the film and which only the most hardcore fans have ever heard of (not that I'm complaining; that's probably my favourite "look" for Giger's monster), and taking what must be quite a gamble on retooling the huge and expensive Alien Queen to represent a version from a comic book that's probably just as obscure, if not more so, than the Sentries themselves.

I know I'm probably going to sound like one of those fedora-wearing neckbeards making a stink about a perceived lack of Black Widow or Rey action figures, but I'd like to think that an "Ultimate" Colonial Marine would sell as well as anything else (I'll freely admit to this being my personal Holy Grail for this line). Something like the following:

-Generic young(ish) military-looking headsculpt

-Helmet that doesn't perch atop the head like some kind of bird's nest

-Alternate helmet with extended IR monocle

-Unmarked armour with a full set of grenades in all the loops (something like "Smith" or "Jones" stenciled on under the collar)

-Knife with sheathe

-VP70 with holster

-Pulse Rifle

-Incinerator

-Ammo Bag

-Medic Bag

-Shoulder Lamp

-Motion tracker

-Extra hands

...and as long as I'm dreaming, I'd like a full set of USCM M3 armour from Terry English... :rolleyes2

Well, yeah, their answer on the Sentry guns is easily refuted. Personally I'm hoping it was just another deception so they can surprise us with them later. I think I can actually live without them since I don't have a corridor diorama but if they were made I'd definitely buy them.

My general attitude is they've already well surpassed McFarlane but perhaps McFarlane just set the bar so low - one hideously pre-posed marine - that I'm easily pleased now.

My biggest beef is that I don't think the quality was quite as good on the marines we've gotten so far compared to later figures like the Ripleys and Nostromo spacesuit guys. And yes the helmets are perched oddly high.

I'm sort of an optimist with NECA I suppose - they're American, they grew up with these films and are fans themselves. I think they'd like to make everything - they'd like to make the entire cast of Alien and Aliens, they'd like to make T2 John Connor and T1 Sarah Connor - but they are hamstrung by business requirements and limitations. The answers they give on twitter are business answers meant to give us realistic ideas about what we can expect. But even that is far better than you get from Hot Toys (nothing, no idea on future plans for a line, no idea on previously shown stuff that hasn't gone up for preorder for **** knows what reason, no communication whatsoever). Some apologists mention that Hot Toys is bound by NDAs but I don't buy that because how is it that NECA can routinely talk about their plans for this line and post prototype images on an ongoing basis? No, I think quite simply Hot Toys doesn't give much of a crap about Alien/s, they don't have much personal attachment to these older films, they're Iron Man-obsessed and that is that. They throw us a bone every now and again to placate us but otherwise they've got other things they'd much rather do. But I think Alien/Predator/Terminator, those are to NECA what Iron Man is to Hot Toys.

Let me get back to you on that, see if I can arrange us both getting a snarling version or if I'm fine with a closed lips one.

If you get one from me and your really not happy with it - QC issues - then of course l would take it back and either get u a replacement or refund.

Are u looking at ordering this urgently, or can I get back to you this week?

:goodpost:

Very true. It's that their profit margin requires them to produce these figures in lower-quality factories that hinders the final product. I do have the up most respect for the NECA design team.

Man, that would be cool if you could, I'd really appreciate it. Whenever you're ready really, I was planning on getting one this month. :)

Oooh, part of my post you quoted makes me sound exactly like the kind of Hot Toys apologist that annoy me - who feel the need to constantly remind people of the patently obvious - ''uhhh, Hot Toys is a business, they make Iron Man because it sells blah-de-blah''.

I wanted to emphasise more that I think NECA do aim to please. We have the best chance with them to get the kind of figures no one else is making...but that we should temper our expectations a bit just so we don't get too disappointed if we don't get everything.

Well said, although the bone they used to throw us has become more like a crumb of food now... Just look at the aliens and robots forum for hot toys items released. We're still discussing items released 1 year ago from HT on top of the forum and hoping against hope that some items previewed 2 years ago will somehow get eventually released whilst over on the star wars and marvel forums its jam packed full of new releases.

But yes its true that hot toys has become basically a producer of marvel, dc comics and star wars stuff now. I still like some of that stuff but wish they'd go somewhat back to their roots and make something us in the 'older ' generation(Is it ok to say that lol?) would like to see. Neca is setting the bar now for all the stuff i like and i think whilst i enjoy their offerings i'd really like to see some high end quality figures being released like colonial marines 2.0, alien ripley, predator original and the terminator 1 endo. These are all pipe dreams though and hot toys are unlikely to leave their current brands in favour of my favourites so neca it is!

No, you're right, and I completely understand where you're coming from. It's just the discrepancy between the awesome products they announce and the final end result when you get them in your hands that drives me crazy. :panic:

When's the alien 3 Ripley suppose to hit, and with what actual alien (if any)?
... I'm just guessing from information given in Twitter, but I would think around May-June and Ripley will come with a Queen Facehugger, and there will be a re-release of the Dog Alien too. We'll know for certain in Toy Fair

i dont mind the human figures but i would buy an realy good ripley for sure. the figures we`ve got are not realy like sigoney weaver is looking.

alien resurection ripley would be nice with the newborn
alien 3 could bring an dog alien newborn with an cow/dog chestburst action or just as an equipment.

the only human figures wich are not ugly as hell are in my opinion

bishop
hicks without helmet
hudson without helmet
windrix for sure

some mean ripley/weaver isnt attractive at all so it doesnt care how the figures looking like. yesterday i watched the movie and i think ripley is a beautyful woman
and thats how i want the figure look like. thx neca.
