Taking my experience into consideration, I think he's manhandling the thing.

Wow, I watched in horror and disbelief at how roughly this reviewer was handling his 3PO. Especially the way he was ripping off the head and moving the arms about! That was scary. I think something must have been wrong with the eyes on his though. I thought Sideshow did quite a good job there and the eyes on mine are bright enough.

Honestly, I have to agree. Although no 'fault' of the buyer, caveat emptor should be a sub-heading on every Sideshow item advertisement. If you're a regular on Freaks, and have been in the hobby for any length of time, you simply have to expect a compromised (and/or faulty) product from them at this point.
That's the bad thing for Sideshow. It seems to be consistent with all their releases that something is wrong. There are some exceptions but more often than not it feels like a gamble pre-ordering anything from them. I have R5-D4 pre-ordered which I feel okay about because it's basically a repainted R2. Also have the reissue of the Probe Droid pre-ordered as I'm fairly sure I know what to expect given the original release. Really want the Jawas but don't want to spend $220 plus shipping if they turn out badly or have some type of issue.

I submitted photos of the "claw" to SS customer service. I did state that other than the hands I was happy with the figure and would prefer correct replacement parts so we'll see what happens.

Well, my C3P0 arrived. :( Back to Sideshow it goes. The finish looks great. I hope the replacement looks as good. The thumbs are ridiculous, though.

I never thought I would replace my custom Jedi Luke painted by Les Walker, but when HT makes the inevitable Jedi Luke, it will replace that piece. Kinda sad though.

I wonder how far into the OT HT will go. I imagine at best it'll be the central hero+villain characters in all three movies, but I'm half expecting them to drop OT altogether now that TFA is out.

Can you avoid pulling off the head by going trough the arm socket?

Like push a thin flat plastic rod into the shoulder and pop the head off from underneath?

Goldenrod arived today....a quick shot at work...

I'm stunned (in a good way)...this figure looks fantastic. After spending days staring at extreme close-up shots, I was expecting the worst...and what a delightful surprise he turned out to be.

More later....just gotta stare some more....

I like the figure as a whole and think it looks good but need a replacement head due to a damaged eye socket and a right arm due to a broken outside piston. The thumbs...they are what they are I guess.

I will say, I was really impressed with his LOOK over all. I just hope my replacement has as nice a finish as this one. It looked perfect as far as that goes. The thumbs are, frankly, pretty embarrassing though. But not a deal breaker for me as far as my display will go.

It just occurred to me... I suppose SS could just send me the one arm. That would be cool.

Going to glue mine. The right arm is getting better as it loosens up. All the fingers work great.

For the record, I think SideShow did an amazing job with this thing. The pistons need to get worked out, but they are amazing that they work. Great ingenuity for the most part. Going to see if Sideshow will still help me out, I don't want to mail back the whole figure, just the arm. Luckily it's his left arm. Overall very happy to have him in my collection.

So, I studied the thumbs and I think my approach will be to cut the thumbs off with a blade.

I intend to leave as much of the "root" as possible so I can bore a tiny hole for a post for re-attachment. I'll need to get a very fine drill bit from a craft store.

What a stupid comparison. The thumbs look overtly ridiculous. At any angle, they look wrong.

If I ordered a premium kitchen and the plans were clearly "X" and they tried to pass off "Y" to me - you'd tell them to fix it and put it back to how the plans were.

As everyone has said - when we're paying HT prices, it better damn-well come with HT quality control... clearly it's not.

:slap How silly of me... you like the prequels, so clearly you're happy to put up with "near enough's, good enough."

I guess not all minds can comprehend a simple comparison. The kitchen is your collection. The nail pops, chipped paint, etc is all the little flaws in the figure that everyone here complains about. In your kitchen, walking by you don't notice these things. You know they are there, but don't care. In your collection, flaws are there, but walking by or gazing from a few feet you don't notice it. So, why do people complain about a figure for weeks on end..... years on end.... when imperfection and "functionality" of there life is equally flawed? I am sure I lost you at this point though. You would fail psych miserably :lol

Forget I said anything. Go back to stalking me, ready to jump out at the chance to reply as you always seem to do :lol:lol:lol
