Yeah, still beats most summer blockbusters but there's complete truth to this.

Although, it still hasn't beat ESB.

ESB stands at 8.9 on RT while this is already at 8.2.

Freshness rating doesn't matter.

it went up to 8.3 :lol

:rotfl

He might have a terrible sense of fashion but the man has a point :lol And he's writing a pretty decent Superman American Alien, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

God damn, I haven't thought a lot about this movie and I thought it couldn't go below the 6.5 I gave it but it just might, it just might. BUT, there is still the possibility that this could be better once the new trilogy is completed, it's too early for me to tell.

But like he said in the video, this is not a tv show, it's a film.

This is unacceptable! Palps was the final boss that got thrown down the Death Star shaft to his death. Vader turned good and died! Tarkin died on the first Death Star. Grand Moff Jerjerrod died on the second Death Star! My boy, Admiral Piett (underrated officer along with General Veers in my opinion) got killed by a kamikaze A-Wing pilot. Thousands of troops were destroyed in the second Death Star. The Empire's best men on Endor (according to Palpatine himself) were killed and/or rounded up and their armor get turned into musical Ewok instruments. Their best Star Destroyer's were destroyed, and Vader's huge Executor command ship took a nose dive.

The Empire was finished! I saw the rebel celebration man! How do you rise up out of nothing and become this strong that you can put together an even bigger Death Star!? Who's SNOKE, he's lived for a long time and seen it all? Palpatine and granddaddy Vader were the big bads.

How did they put together the Stormtrooper program under Republic law? How were babies like Finn who were born in the New Republic, taken from their homes when they were infants and turned into foot soldiers!?

Pachow!!!!

Honestly Disney ****ed the whole movie up with people... First Order... Resistance... If anybody read Dark Empire, remember the part where Coruscant was in civil war for years because everybody wanted to be the NEW EMPEROR. Heck even the artists put in some freedom with Stormtroopers using new color coded armor to define whose side is who shooting at each other. What could have saved this film is something no one would have suspected... Resistance and First Order fighting... then heh heh another Imperial remnant taking on both sides. There were rumors First Order only a sect right, they don't use original Imperial Symbol and... yet resistance still uses Rebel. So makes you wonder since I hate the films anyway will VIII be 3rd party attacking. A REAL IMPERIAL MIGHT.

Not defending the movie, but the Empire had a huge infrastructure already built, I assume either Snoke just popped up to take charge, or he is Plagueis and he was just waiting.

And about the stormtrooper program, well, the republic, much like the previous empire, can't reach the entirety of the galaxy.

Man, they should've just paid to use the EU. What's a couple more millions on the 4.2 billion deal? Now we're stuck with this tumblr-tier BS.

Still, movies can afford to leave stuff out if it's to be explained in later movies, like in a planned trilogy, like this is the case.

Is this a planned trilogy though? You can say that about LOTR or Harry Potter because they're based on something and it all exists already in the original source material, but are was everything in this film planned with the intention of explaining things in future episodes? I don't know. As far as I know, Kasdan might be making up stuff as we speak.

-"Yeah he's totally dead, I killed the dude who has the power of resurrection myself, with my own two hands."

I'm just saying, it wouldn't be exactly an asspull.

I thought it was. I don't think they're going full Lucas and just winging it.

Lol Porkins 2.0 is Greg Grunberg. JJ's 'good luck charm'. They were schoolmates or something. He was the Pilot in Lost, talked to Tom Cruise about traffic in MI:3.... I'm sure there's more.

And he is apparently Temmin from Star Wars: aftermath.

Her eating that bread puff thing, playing with the helmet, sliding down the sand hill and getting a look at that old, withered scavenging lady (I got the idea like, "this could be my future some day") were some of the best shots and sequences in the movie. Good character moments without uttering a single word of dialogue.

Loved those scenes aswell!

Huh, I just saw that guy on this review I watched. Weird.

Pretty good conversation, it's too long so I'm just >>> a lot, and it's pretty much what we've been saying here.

It is pretty funny that we're only talking about the bad stuff and critiquing the movie, I figured the mindless circle-jerk of praise can be left to facebook or tumblr as usual.

I actually wanna talk about how much better the film could've been instead of bashin' it, but...
Too much to write and it'll be for nothing anyway. :lol

Well, the dudes in the video made a pretty cool point that what if when Kylo asks Rey to join her in the dark side she said yes, that would've been a pretty original twist and it would've probably given a better aftertaste after all the self-plagiarism :lol

I still don't get why he wants to be like Vader? It makes no sense, because Vader redeemed himself, so why would he choose to ignore that part of the story? Not only that, let's say that he wants to be the most powerful person in the galaxy, in that case, again Anakin never reached his full potential because he became Vader, so why be like him?

Something must of happened to Ben for him to choose the dark side, the question is what? I hope it's not something silly like Han Solo left him when he was a kid, because didn't he say when he was talking to Rey that Han wasn't a good father or something like that? If that's the case, and Snoke is the dad he never had, I think that's kind of lame.

Also, if Snoke is really the guy from ROTS, and he can bring people back from the dead, is it possible that he'll bring Han Solo back from the dead?

The concept of Kylo Ren is in general retarded. He has a whiny self-entitled attitude like he was a spoiled child born from royalty, oooh wait, he is. What could have possibly happened to a kid born with a silver spoon, raised by one of the wisest men to become a Jedi, in a family who has seen what the dark side does, to have been tempted by the dark side? What could he have possibly experienced that made him hate-himself or everything around him? Unless his whole act is really just a big ass tantrum. I have serious doubts that they'll make him a relatable villain by the end of it.

I think you need the body to be able to revive someone.

That's too far away from the begining of problems.
I'd start with the first act being a huge lucklaster.

1.
The whole Nazi thing is immediately ruined by unexplained woman and black guy stormtroopers. Could've been easily made into a strong point by statin' that since the FO started as a small underground operation they couldn't afford being picky, BUT had to cover this fact heavily. Such background would create more depth and difference between FO and Empire. There'd be no tellin' who's under the helmet - a man, a woman, or an alien.

2.
Both Rey and Finn are child like characters whose life was spent on a single planet. Why don't you take them to a small galactic trip? It'd be more interesting to see them interactin' with and reactin' to this huge world they never knew before, it'd also create a whole lot of opportunities for action, jokes, character development and subtle exposition. Fun ride and stuff...

3.
DON'T MAKE REY INTO SUPERPOWERED DUMBASS! Seriously, what the Force? I don't know if they were goin' for amnesia/memoryblock crap or something else, but it made her character nonexistent and her actions felt like an RPG video game progression.

etc

*I'll get back to it later, SW hype is exhausting*

It is funny, a lot of these "negatives" are nothing but "what ifs."

You review a movie based on the content on the screen and how it is presented. Not on "what ifs" or "should haves."

What did people think about the ending shot of Force Awakens? For me, the helicopter shot of the camera spinning around Luke and Rey was the worst "ending curtain close" in a Star Wars movie yet. Might have been better if Chewbacca and R2 were up there, or Luke actually took the lightsaber or something. Kind of a jarring way to end it, didn't feel "Star Warsy" if that makes sense. It almost seemed like a 90s music video or Rocky or Karate Kid montage because of the distance between the characters and the camera.

Absolutely hated the helicopter shot. Especially as the close up shots that preceded it were very cool.

1. The whole nazi thing has always been a staple of the Empire, and I could be wrong, but at the point of ANH they were already recruiting all kinds of humans into their ranks.

2. Yeah they were both kids, which makes this whole thing of destroying an even bigger threat than in ANH even more retarded. Yeah I agree here, if the scope was smaller, we could've gotten better and more character moments.

3. Too late :lol

Criticism has "what ifs" implied, by saying what's wrong with it you're often implying how it could've been better.
