Because he looks like a zombie and the hair looks completely different than the hair on every other figure. I hope Trunks doesn't look as pale.

Are people really complaining about the skin tone with a photo that was taken with the flash up close? His skin tone looks no different than Manga Goku's next to him. People are acting as if his skin tone is as white as his armor.

I just think something is off, because the colors don't match what I've been seeing. The flash though, I dunno, since why doe OG Vegeta and SDCC Goku look normal?

Here's a pic from the person who took it. He posted it on DBF. Doesn't look nearly as bad as the previous pic. Still a bit paler than the OG but nowhere near as bad as it seemed. Also confirmed it's the Hong Kong release. Loving the saturated blue color

Now that's a *better comparison photo.

I may be annoyed when I have it in person but the solid boot tips don't actually look that bad. I hope they change it for Buu Saga Vegeta but crisis may have jinxed it where Tamashii will use the same hair mold as well and the only thing new will be a torso mold.

I don't know what you guys are so upset about. I think PCgeta looks fine.

for me it's the same situation with SSG Vegeta; the glossy finish doesnt mesh well with me. I think they could've done a much better job, considering what they're capable of

like Vegetto; yeah the hair looks fine, but they still could've made it even better just by adding some shading. everyone has their own preferences ya know?

The glossy/metallic look could work well with the SSGSS form since it kinda has that sheen in the anime anyways. For regular SSJ, the matte finish works best imo. That's how it was in the anime and never really glowed.

Curious as to how this release will affect the OG Vegeta prices. I suspect they'll go down slightly while this guy is fresh on the market. Depending on how low it drops, I may just pick up a few extras.

I agree the first photo posted of Premium Vegeta was kind of weak, the other photos aren't so bad. Most importantly, I just hope this version doesn't have the loose joint problem like the OG.

Not bad at all. Love the darker, navy blue jumpsuit.

Still quite odd they didn't toss in the boot-lines with the gold tips but I can live with them. They look pretty good from a distance and they did well color-matching them with his Saiyan armor.

It's great for people that don't have Vegeta but it still can't compare to the OG. I don't understand why they tend to make certain figures have pale complexions. Manga Gohan got the same affliction although his looks far worse imo. Manga Goku has it too but it's not as noticeable. I just hope Trunks doesn't suffer the same fate although I'm only getting one to swap heads with the OG anyways.

Don't know how it relates to toys but in Japanese (and some Asian) cultures, white, pale skin is considered more "beautiful", free of blemishes and has been a cultural norm for centuries. Often why you see a lot of powder and face paint still used in traditional outfits. Much like Europe did as well with the powder and wigs. Time eroded this, but, having white skin is still very popular in Japan.

It's also very much a "class" thing. Higher classes (characters of "good") have more 'pure', white skin while the lower classes have tan, 'darker' skin because they work and live outside. Their skin complexion often reflected that.

Tan was often tagged for those individuals who were 'wild', of lower class and/or often poor and impoverished. Like farmers, tradesmen, and any other outdoorsy characters. This is why Goku is often depicted with tan skin, because it demonstrates his "outdoor, feral" attitude and lifestyle. Some famous wandering samurai like Musashi Miyamoto are often shown to be tan because of his ronin lifestyle.

I know in Japan especially, fair skin has always been a thing to be revered such as why gieshas paint their skin snow white. I guess that same cultural aspect plays into figures too? Interesting.

It certainly has played a role in the Dragon Ball anime! Mostly because it's in color. That's why Goku is shown with darker, tan skin. It reflects the fact that he's "wild/feral" and has lived an outdoor and relatively modest lifestyle (he and his family live in the woods), on top of the fact that he's considered a "low-class" Saiyan in terms of the class structure.

Vegeta, as the Saiyan Prince and a "high-class", has often been shown with relatively fairer, pale skin to reflect his status. He does seem to get tanner later in the 'Z'-series but often he is demonstrated as being of fairer complexion than Goku who is the less-refined, "lower class" of the two.

By Resurrection'F - their skin tone is almost the exact same...whether that is intentional or not, it essentially demonstrates them as 'equals'.

and we all know how the few "dark" characters in Dragon Ball have been depicted

Toriyama only ever seen Minstrel Shows in his life? sheesh :cuckoo:

@ Bardoon the similar skin tone might be another classic Toriyama inconsistency :lol

I believe Gohan has Chichi's complexion to show her genes in him as well.

I thought OG SS Vegeta didn't have joint problems? Only Scouter Vegeta did as as a widespread release
