SS ANH,SS deluxe,HT and kaiyodo comparison's..
SS ANH_SS deluxe_HT_ kaiyodo.JPGSS ANH_SS deluxe_HT_ kaiyodo2.JPGSS ANH_SS deluxe_HT_ kaiyodo3.JPG

I'm not sure which one is considered most "accurate" by those who debate such things, but the size of the HT one reminds me that the one time I saw one of the actual helmet props on display I was blown away with how big it was. I am not saying that the scale of the HT one is right, but the helmet should be large.

I would rank these (just based on what feels right without really knowing what is most "accurate")

1.HT
2.kaiyodo (A close second that might be argued as first)
3.SS ANH
4.SS deluxe

Unfortunately, I have the SS Deluxe. Still on the fence the with HT Vader - mostly because I already have a Vader and don't really want to buy another one even if I like the HT helmet better and the LED Saber better

I finally have the Hot Toys Vader in hand:clap :clap
and I have to say that this is by far the Best ANH Vader I have ever seen.
Most people don't realize how much work goes into manufacturing the figure of this quality.
From planing, sculpting, to execusion and manufacturing,
Hot Toys sure knocked it out of the park with this one. Just brilliant!
Sure, glove seem like an odd choice and sound effect function doesn't work all that well.
and extra droid stand... ya.. definitely an after thought.
But what I mean is... Hot toys really nailed the essence of the ANH Vader.
It not only have a shelf presence, but also enhances all the Star Wars figures around it.

I had Sideshow Delux Vader on my Star Wars 12" display and all I did was to swap it out HT Vader.
Suddenly the display came alive with energy and charisma. I can't be more proud to own one.

My dated and now seem toyish Sideshow Vader will go back into the box and eventually be sold...

I would love to see a pictures of your shelves with both figures posed the best way they can be to compare and see the difference you are speaking about. :)

I think that kayodo is hands down the more screen accurate. Ht is detailed and well done but far from screen accurate, sideshow are two nice toys, but this is only my poor opinion!

If you could estimate a % increase of the dx dome , we could make it happen.

Just from looking at the comparison pictures, the DX dome should be increased to about the same size as the HT dome. Of course, in that case it seems like an HT dome modified to look ESB accurate seems like a simpler option.

The Kaiyodo mask looks more accurate than the HT mask.

No doubt the Kaiyodo is the BEST, you just have to look at that picture. The problem with the Kaiyodo is that it is tiny. I have one of Hurricane's very first Vaders and it uses the Kaiyodo mask (I'm looking at it right now) and although it looks great it is on the smallish side as it appears above.

I'm Interested to try the HT dome on the Hurricane facemask. With two coat of gloss clear, the Hurricane ESB facemask looks stunning, so if the SSC dome can't be tweaked, I'm hoping the HT dome might provide the "ultimate" helmet combo. The HT dome has some remarkably good inclusions like the wavering/non-flat bottom of the skirt.

I think this could make for a very interesting combo. With the accuracy and detailing of the Hurricane mask along with he shape and size of the HT dome, I imagine it would be even nicer than the standard HT ANH and if done in ESB style, probably as good as anything HT will produce..

With all its inaccuracies I still like the Kaiyodo the best in that lineup.

For me there are pluses and minuses with both of them, the eyes, nose and neck look better on the kaiyodo but the cheeks, mouth vent and neck bulge look better on HT and they got the mouth/vent crooked too! And the dome looks to have been scanned down from the original as it's wonderfully wonky and crooked ..just superb.

My force powers suck. I was banking on today the day SSC would send out notices. Lol, this is my first order through them and I have no patience.

The thing that to my eye looks most off with the HT is when you look at the higher angle, the eyes are sloped backward just slightly too much, giving it that cat/feminine or McQ Vader look seen more clearly in the proto. Even though it's still not 100% accurate either, you can see the Kaiyodo eyes are flatter. I also think the Kaiyodo neck looks broader and more accurate, though HT Vader is a bit skinny overall, so it's not too noticeable on the figure. The HT button nose does look a little odd/deep in some pics, but looks good in most.

I thought the same thing when I got my Kaiyodo kit (a bit shocked actually :lol) but I think it was Too Much Garlic who said the dimensions of the Kaiyodo exactly match the screen used helmet in 1/6. I did quite a bit of research because it just seemed wrong, especially next to the HT Stormie helmet but eventually found a jkno pic that showed the two replica 1/1 helmets and the props were similarly scaled. But as I mentioned earlier, what the comps showed was that it's the SSC DX dome that make the Kaiyodo look too small - a modded SSC DX is the most commonly used on the Hurricanes (Matrix used it too) and it's 10% too small and the skirt also flares out a little too wide.

If you have a close look at the HT vs Kaiyodo, the facemask dimensions (tusk-tusk, outer cheek-cheek etc.) they are about the same on both, whereas the Ht dome is noticeably bigger.

:goodpost:

They must have scanned the dome because it has the slight wavy bottom on the skirt - anyone sculpting it would have made that flat.

Does the HT dome come off - or too scary to contemplate?
