Thanks for the info, I do prefer the cartoon look best. I've actually taken my entire MP collection and had them customized with G1 cartoon paint look. I also had others non MPs in my collection repainted with G1 colors to match the 80s cartoon (devastator, bruticus, death of starscream, starscream coorination, grimlock, etc.). I'm still waiting to receieve a few more of them, but when I do I'll be sure to post some pictures. I sold my fantoys shockwave earlier this year, now I'm wishing maybe I shouldn't of. Oh well.

That sounds cool, I prefer the cartoon look as well, as that's what I picture wherever I look at my MP collection.

Wouldn't mind seeing pics of your G1 Cartoon paint toon collection!

Also, welcome to this board, the best one in SSF by far!

I concur with all 3 of these statements! (Although I'd say the Aliens and Robots section in general is badass)

Thanks fellas..this is an excellent thread filled with great topics.
I'm waiting on custom Devastator and Bruticus (in G1 homage) from frenzyrumble. They each sit about 32 inches high and are getting detailed to the hilt with a weathering/battle damage look...soon as their done I'll get some photos up! Been almost 2 years since they were built.

Got there surprisingly painlessly unlike some others who got Andras earlier. But here's to you X-Transbots for making a bloody overly complicated ankle and foot transformation lol (love those fingers though!) ;)

Andras looks extremely well done. Out of everything 3p this is the one I'm having a hard time resisting to. Might just wait on a deal or see what any other company puts out first...

I've seen some pictures of the newly released Thundercracker and the blue looks INCREDIBLE as well as the metal finish.

I can't wait to have it.

I have read a lot of negative about Tracks so far. Just got him in from HLJ today. Just wanted to say Tracks is awesome in flying car mode . I didn't want to go down this road, but I'm almost thinking of buying another for robot mode.

For me, I just get the main release like MP-25 for bot mode, and then get the repaint for alt mode like MP-26 Road Rage. Best of both worlds :)

Yeah, I have mine preordered from Robotkingdom. The more cartoon accurate colour scheme will go beautifully with MP-11 and MP-11SW. But what is this "metal finish" you refer to?

I originally started buying MP KOs for alt mode, but stopped after the Datsun brothers. Tracks in flying car mode really impressed me. His Blue metallic paint looks great. The tampos really pop too against the blue.

As for Road Rage I have her on PO too. Was hoping she would be out by now so I could ship her with Tracks and Exhaust. My next figure to open tonight is Exhaust.

I did it fairly easily the first time, but then trying to transform the bloody ankles was an absolute ***** when I did it for the review!! If you want to see my fumbling my way through the most goddamn overly complex transformation sequence, click through to check it out lol!! :D

I begrudgingly paid the best part of $200 for Thundercracker because I need it to complete my '84 Decepticons.

Compared to the new molds I've got recently it'll feel like a bit of a non event when it arrives, it's not the most posable of robots and I've already got two other versions of the mold so I think it'll be one of those that I'll stick on the shelf and then not do much else with it.

I like the animated film, and think part of it is just my knowing I need some boundaries on my collection. But in general I don't care for the shift away from modern, real-world vehicles (mostly, obviously putting aside Insecticons, tape decks, laser pistol Shockwave, Dinobots. . . :lol ) to futuristic space vehicles. I'm going to get the new Hot Rod, but only because I had and liked the toy as a kid. But anyone else is a pass for me.

:lol I hear ya we all need our boundaries! Sorry you didn't dig em all like that. Seeing the film in the theaters is still one of my most vivid childhood memories so I guess I have a very fond attachment to the characters. Also the fact that whenever I was taken out to get a toy they never had the one I wanted Spinger, Cyclonus etc... so this is my time to shine! I'm in TF heaven right now!

As a kid I remember resenting Prime and Megatron being tossed aside in favor of Ultra Magnus and Galvatron and I never wanted either toy, the only toys of characters who debuted in the '86 movie I had were Hot Rod and Kup.

I suppose I could go for FT Hot Rod and see if XTransbots have upped their build quality to an acceptable level by the time their Kup is ready to go but I think I'd sooner keep what display space I have left for more 84-85 characters.

DarthMagnus,
Nice review!

So far Badcube's Insecticons are the first figures they've done that I've not bought as I prefer how the Fans Toys ones look but after seeing the different sized Insecticons in Transformers Devastation have thought about possibly getting the Badcube ones as well once I've got a few other things paid for.

Thanks bro! :duff You should definitely check out the BC versions. I really think they beat out the FT ones.

I just read about Thundercrackers release. This is the one time waiting paid off as I had jumped on Quakewave in the secondary market late in the game and got burned pretty bad. I knew if an MP11S exisisted it was just a matter of time we got that T!

My thoughts on the Wei Jiang MPP10

I don't buy KOs. I think they're a waste of time.

But this is an exceptionally done knock-off. I have 2 takara mp10s and i have never been fully happy with them. You can feel that there're too many shortcuts and cost cutting techniques implemented in these official toys that they've never truly reached their masterpiece potential (I mean, can i at least get blue paint on the tiny eyes and yellow paint on those tiny roof lights for my $200?).

This MPP10 thing is a masterpiece. I never thought a would say that to a fake product, but you can't help but feel that there is love given to this toy. The additional paint apps and over-all retooling and adjustments made this awesome mold so much more special. Joints are tight, paint is cleanly applied, plastic quality is good, build quality is at par with the official release. I gave one to my 10 year old and he's been transforming it back and forth without problems. And oh, it's taller and wider than mp01, which will WOW you if you ever get one. I love Hot Toys and a loyal supporter of their products as well but if you're thinking of getting a tall G1 prime, you might save 50% of your money if you get two of this instead.

My support for Takara and Hasbro is still 100% and will not stop buying multiples of their masterpiece line but this thing is $60, i don't think i can resist that treat and i'm so glad i didn't. I bought 5 of these before prices explode and before the possibility of subsequent re-releases getting shortcuts and cost cutting techniques implemented in these things due to corporate greed taking over.

What a strange world to be in to be getting a KO that's bigger and better than the official product that's 3rd of the price. Wow. HasTak must take note.

Thanks for the post, that's insane: a KO with better build quality and color than the original Masterpiece. Wow.

I must say the Hot Toys G1 Prime is a beautiful figure and ever since I PO'D the starscream exclusive I haven't even looked at another MP. Hot toys towers above.

That actually looks really good. There's nothing official about a Takara version yet, right? Just the fake rumor that it was supposed to be MP-28 over the summer?

Correct.

Not that I'll be hanging on to see how long the rumor takes to become reality, FT-15 will be my MP Hound and I don't believe Takara will get close to it with the present designer in charge.

If they brought back Shogo Hasui to lead the design team, I think he'd nail the aesthetic but their cost cutting BS would mean no rubber tyres, no diecast, hollow parts or gappy areas where there's no need for them and missing points of articulation compared with earlier figures.

I drank the Takara Kool Aid for far too long, assuming the quality of "official" products were better than 3rd party endeavors. But most recently I have gotten several 3rd party figures, namely Generation Toy's Mixmaster and Scrapper, Fanstoys' Bombshell, and Gigapower's Snarl. If anyone thinks that Takara quality is better than these guys, they too are drinking the Kool Aid. The build quality, paint and heft alone of these 4 figures are outstanding and quite honesty beat out every single official release I have. Further, the customer service of both Generation Toy and Gigapower are amazing - they respond to all inquiries on their Facebook page within hours, they release extra pieces (for free) to fix any issues from a previous release... Ofcourse there are 3rd party figures that aren't so good, but these are truly Masterpieces.

I'll try to take pics next weekend of all these figs, but call me impressed. I'd say Snarl and Bombshell are my favorite TFs I own now, and that includes me having MP-10, Soundwave, Prowl, Bumblebee, etc... They actually make the Masterpiece figures look like cheap toys (and the Masterpiece figures are amazing in their own right).
