Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Incredible work! My hat is off to you my friend!

Great job with the weathering, my friend. Love the collection. Repped. :duff

Thank you, Username and YFB! And also, I appreciate the internet dollars, YFB :lol

For anyone who's interested, weathering the helmet isn't too difficult if you want to give it a go. To recreate the fine mist of soot/grime, I used watered down dark grey matte acrylic paint. Dip a toothbrush into the paint and flick the bristles with your finger onto a piece of paper until you get a VERY fine mist. Once it's fine enough, flick the paint onto the helmet from about 5 inches away. If you get any big splatter spots they can be easily dabbed off with your finger.

I then applied the rusty brown tint by using matte brown acrylic paint straight from the bottle (i.e. NOT watered down). Dip your paint brush into the paint and rub the brush onto a paper towel until there in basically no paint left on the brush. Then dry brush the entire helmet. Add more tint in certain areas as desired, but also make sure to dry brush the ENTIRE helmet; the thin layer of matte paint will make the finish on the helmet match the matte finish of the body.

Also, there's pretty much NO SKILL or proper technique involved when dry brushing the paint on. Just basically move the brush around like you're coloring with a crayon. If you use full strength paint and have almost no paint in the brush, you will not end up with paint streaks or stroke marks. It'll actually look nice and even, as if you used an airbrush to apply the paint.

Damn, didn't mean to type so much :rotfl Just wanted to say that the mod is not too difficult if you want to give it a try. Also, it's completely reversible too, since acrylic paint is water soluble and can be easily washed off.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

hi all, sorry for my bad english. this is my first hottoys figure, finally unboxing it and when i pull up the waist, and look closely, there is this marked area where it seems the armor was pressed down onto it if the upper body was pulled down.
i marked the damaged area with red circle below.
anyone has this ? will HT accept an exchange or refund ? or maybe send me a replacement abdomen area ?

Any comments will be appreciated thanks guys

That honestly adds to the battle damaged look in my opinion.

I don't have that damaged spot there, sorry for the crappy pic. You could try to arrange something with the retailer you got it from.

Or like sts said you can keep it as added battledamage.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I wouldn't even notice that to be honest. Mine could have it aswell for all I know.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Yep, agreed. Not worth the hassle of returning, that's for sure. Only you will ever know it's there, so I'd let it go.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I'd just keep it.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

If that were on my clean version, I'd definitely try for an exchange. On this one, I also think it just adds to the figure. Robocop is supposed to have battle damaged areas on his abdomen, so your figure may even be more movie accurate for having that.

New shelf, at my new place, only mirrored from my old set up, but completely new shelf.

Love how that turned out:

Damn you Endo! I've got the clean Robo and the two-pack and was happy with just them but your awesome display and that pose you have ED in has made me give strong consideration to getting him having convinced myself that the rubber issue was reason enough not to. Well done on the display and I have to say that's the best ED-209 pose I've seen so far. 👊🏼

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Missed those, yeah fantastic posing from Endo/Timo. ED looks like he has just activated and spun around. Nicely done.

thanks difabio invictus adev saigon and yankees.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Well, unlike all of them, I wasn't of much help. :lol

It would bother me, but I seem to be in the minority. Good luck however it shakes out. :duff

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

in order to see the "dent" part, the upper body must lifted up first, if i lowered the body like in solaire pic, the dent part is covered by the armpit armor (and also caused by it pressing the waist off course). sorry for my english

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Wait, so the design of the figure caused that dent? Meaning just about every figure would have that same "problem," right? That's nothing to worry about then.

Sorry I can't confirm this personally, most of my figures are MISB. :lol

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Yankees, i think so, but not so sure, i only found 2 figures so far that have this "armpit dent", only the other 1 is on the right side , mine is left side. you never open all your figures ? so all of them still sealed ?

ED is a gorgeous figure and critical to me in a RoboCop display. I really have to pull mine out of storage and take the time to Mod Podge the dome. That one risk aside, very glad I bought it. It's pretty reasonable on the secondary, too. I see it going for $300 routinely.

Your English is fine, cemong, don't worry. We all know where you're coming from. Everyone wants their figures to be flawless but best to accept small imperfections like that, especially considering how hidden it is.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Are you guys lubing and sealing or is the grease alone enough?

I know it's been posted several times in the ED thread but if one of you guys can post the Honda one of choice and save me the trouble to go digging for it, I'd appreciate it

Agreed Endo! I guess it's easy for me to say because mine is issue free but ED is such a sick piece. Thank God I got lucky with mine and I'm able to enjoy it to the fullest

Thx, dude. :) But keep in mind, deterioration can always happen.
For me, only lubing works great.

That´s the stuff I use:

Since the BD needs to be damaged in that area, jst take it as a fix-point and try to custom it.
I don´t think you get a replacement for that. Sorry, man.

I´m sorry...I guess? :lol
It´s totally controllable, so no excuse for me to not get this absolute fundamental piece of RoboCop-geek-ism.

Thx, Andrew. :hi5:
Long time no chat. Everything good with you, mate?

Here are a few shots of my helmeted, post-ED209 Robocop. The helmet is weathered to match the rest of the body. Was too cheap to buy another head/neck/collar off eBay, so I made casts of these parts from the original. They're cast in black resin and also weathered to match the black abdomen and hands.
