Thats quite strange because how many times have we seen protos with a big fat sign saying "pending approval".
There was a previous poster who attended NYCC and mentioned that the Star Ace body wasnt up to scratch.
Really going to be interesting seeing the photos and who comes out on top.

The body that Leonidas was displayed on is an early prototype and a static body with no articulation. The final body will be articulated and a bit bulkier in the chest.

Come on. The most imp thing on his figure is a body. A plastic body just won't cut it :( why are you looking for a replacement so far out! :(

Just looking a little bit around because the evening is freetime tonight. :)
From my understanding the body that has been shown was pretty thin. Thats why I am already starting to look for alternatives. The KP body is no plastic body from my understanding.

As I mentioned - the Star Ace body will be a bit bulkier. It also won't be generic but specifically modeled after the character in the film. Themistocles will also have different parts on the body to make it resemble his body in the film.

The studio won't tell them that another company also has the license if it's non-exclusive. Star Ace has all the major territories.

Did you hear this direct from Star? That's not been my experience. With any type of license I've been around or had, be that Sole exclusive, or limited non-exclusive, or co-exclusive, or non-exclusive or any of the others... I wouldn't pay for a license without understanding the market and any direct competition. If ten companies are making the exact same figure no one, or only one, will make it work. Not if they are all same region(no region). I don't know anyone at star and I don't know the brand manager for the 300 license so I'm just speculating, obviously. But I'm basing it on my own experience in the same areas with other companies. I'm just curious.

You said they wouldn't allow photos becuase it was pending..that's strange. The diligence and regs on a non-exclusive license are usually pretty light, and allow prototypes to be shown at trades. Even on sole exclusive license they usually allow prototypes to be shown. I'm curious about how the agreement is done and how the brand manager for 300 handles things. Everything I've heard about this property is at odds with most the stuff. Strange.

The Warner Bros. licenses are handled out of the Japanese office and have different restrictions than other licenses. But I have all my information first hand.

This is very helpful to know- Few more questions if you can help out :)

1) the body will be rubber and seamless or elbow / shoulder joints visible?
2) any idea on base will it be like a simple stand or something creative there (heard of a battle scene type base)
3) do they have arrows on shield look or is it just blank shield?
4) lastly - will the war shorts (for a better lack of term) will be fabric or like ht

Thanking in advance!

I just want to see prototypes of both, get an idea if the quality of each figure.

Whichever one doesn't have a rubber body will probably be the one I get.

The body will not be rubber. But with the costume (cape, greaves, etc.) the only joint you'll really see will be the elbow. There is an environment base- same idea as Selene's. The shorts are leatherlike. Broken arrows in the shield is yet to be determined. None were shown.

I have lost 90 pct interest now :( that body not being rubber is a huge let down for me. I had chatted with their rep once and they had said its confirmed to be rubber! Did anything change and hence now it's plastic :( :(

I guess it is what it is!

Hearing that the body will not be rubber makes me more interested... Awesome. I dislike rubber figs as a personal preference. Would much rather have plastic.
