NECA: 1/4 Christopher Reeve Superman

Ok well I got mine today, I have a couple of issues with mine, one being some paint rub on the s and 2 his left ear looks as though a pitball has had a chew . Slightly annoying but I think I can heat the ear and push it back and the paint I can fix. Anyway the figure. this really is an awesome, awesome figure by Neca . Some of the previous issues for some people I actually like. The suit being painted is quite clever and does give the appearance of fabric. The cape, its pretty decent and drapes well. Also the cape tucks under the 'fabric' really well and looks as it did in the film. The sculpt is awesome. I may sound crazy when I say this but for me, the likeness actually works well in a couple of ways. If you pose him looking straight on or looking up, Its Reeve spot on. The thing I really like and because of the serious expression, if you pose the head looking down with the way the eyes are planted, you can see a more evil superman. I messed about with the pose and kinda made him look disheveled with the cape over one shoulder and it really reminded me of the scene where evil supes comes out of the bar, drunk. Im definitely going to pick another one up do mod it as that version and with the suit being rubber, it will be easy to paint.
Really impressed with this. I actually think I prefer the likeness on this over the hot toys version and that's saying something as I love that figure. Here are some pics iv just took. Excuse the cauliflower ear, im working on that

mines head seemed to sit too high on the neck post as well as the hair looking too tall so i "fixed "it lol
anyway here it is for better or worse

Don't get me wrong, I love the HT, but somehow, paint aside, I think this fig has an even better likeness! All those pics are beautiful,

Thanks Libby and 16. Yea one of the guys on the tube said the same about the neck... I think mine looks ok.

I agree. I love my ht superman but this likeness wise is more nailed on imo. The ht looks great from certain angles where as this just looks closer all round. I am thinking of adding some skin tones just to bring it to life more.

Great work on the modifications to the hair and making the head sit lower on the neck, would you know if the head could be removed on this Superman figure? Would love to know how you made the changes, Kudos to you for your great work

WOW! Those pics show that NECA's sculpt nailed Christopher Reeve's likeness. Why, oh why couldn't Sideshow have done the same thing? Hell, why didn't Cinemaquette? The prototype pics we saw at Toy Fair and other places were absolutely misleading about this piece. This is a serious, serious win for NECA.

It would be amazing having cloth but Neca did a really decent job making this look that way. And in doing that, the S is perfect and the cape tucks unde and holds well. Id love to see how fabric would look tho.

WOW! Those pics show that NECA's sculpt nailed Christopher Reeve's likeness. Why, oh why couldn't Sideshow have done the same thing? Hell, why didn't Cinemaquette? The prototype pics we saw at Toy Fair and other places were absolutely misleading about this piece. This is a serious, serious win for NECA.

The funny thing is the initial shots of this, he had a bit of a strange look going on and even on the box, it kinda looks that way but the figure itself looks way better . Iv got a lot of time for Neca right now. To get a figure this good at this scale at such a low price point is crazy.
Im not kidding, I can stand this next to my enterbay Bean figure which is superb but ud never thought I had spent over £200 more on that figure. It really is that good.

How good is the devito penguin gunna be .... cant wait.

He arrived this morning. I know I hesitated long before getting it, but man, he's such a win! The suit even has a cloth pattern on it!

Really a perfect figure at an awesome price!

Excuse the crappy phone pic, but I wanted to show my Reeve after a couple of mods. I wired the cape, which I think really adds to the figure. The major thing I did is alter the neck by hollowing out the inside of the hear and grinding the neck down a little around the edge. Now the head is pushed on and sits lower than it did out the box, Im really happy the giraffe neck he had when I got him has been eliminated. I'm going to reattach the socket and neck peg within the head with some Aves, so I get the poability of the head back but at this new lower position.

This is definitely one figure where pictures do not do it justice. An absolutely amazing sculpt and fantastic paint applications. I ordered 4 and the last one to arrive had a very definite 5 o'clock shadow. The paint applications were perfect but this super-beard is really bothering me since it doesn't match his movie appearance. Maybe I'll just order another.

As much as I love this figure...the one to top it for the money will be penguin imo.
