....Gee why all the flaming for the OP? No one is forcing you to respond to the thread either way. It is a relevant discussion for this hobby. A hobby that can be very expensive and is often viewed by those outside of it as extremely frivolous. I won't post my annual income, but I will say I try to keep my collectable budget to under a $1000.00 a year. Last year I blew past that, but, I also made more money last year too. This year, will be a little leaner, so I will try to come in under that figure.

You could have given an annual spend amount in the other 'how much do you spend on dolls' thread, but in this thread, a percentage breakdown is required. So while I'm pouring myself another scotch, get out your slide ruler and do it again.

I don't have a set budget that I need to spend before the month is over.
I buy what I like when I see it.

Oh, and mind your own damn business!

spent around $50 k last year, this next paycheck around $1750

plan to keep it under 10 k though this year

and following year under 5 k

I want to quite eventually but when a new PCS MK comes out then there i am taking the day off to PO that

I guess I have spent £25000 on this hobby since 2009, So I guess about £5000 a year. I don't earn that much, less then £2000 per month, but my overheads are low so I get by.

To all those being defensive, do you guys think this hobby is a huge waste of money and you're afraid others will judge you as a money waster? Go to the savings forum and people gladly post their 401k savings online..including their entire life savings and their yearly income...but when it comes to this community, "how much money you spend on toys/year vs how much you make" becomes wayyy too personal.

Why would anyone persue this hobby if they thought it was a waste of money?

There comes a time when the hobby supports itself. Once you have a full display room things need to be sold to make room for new purchases.

I'm pretty sure I could make all my money back if I sold my collection off. My iminime Cowboy set would probably go for over £1000.

So its not like money down the drain.

So then I ask you in the joker's voice, Why So Serious?

You took 'Oh, and mind your own damn business!' as serious? :lol

It's a toy forum. I earn and spend more than some, less than others. Who cares?

Why do you care about how much anyone else spends?

If this thread was full with good data, then the people reading it may feel better or worst about themselves, discover how cool or uncool their own spouses/parents/girlfriends are, and how serious or not so serious they are in this hobby. I don't know, some may even realize they have an addiction problem, or thought they had an addiction problem but really don't compared to others.

The thread's title is not "Do you think you spend too much on toys and need to grow the F up?"...so I don't understand the hostility.

Hi. My name is Collectorcol and I do have an addiction :D

I don't need to read other peoples spending habits or see how their familys react to their hobby to make me feel better about my own habits or somehow try to justify it.
I'm a grown man. I pay the bills and put food on the table for my family. Anything else I wish to do is my business.

It's not hostility it's a curiosity as to why you're so interested in other peoples lives.
Maybe you're the one trying to justify something or make yourself feel better?

You know what, you're right. Nothing good can come from this thread. Just bored and curious.

The topic of the thread is ridiculous because we're not here to measure each other's financial **** Graysons. We're here to enjoy the hobby with like-minded individuals. Some people feel uncomfortable discussing money, either because they don't want to rub how much they make in everyone's faces or they make much less than those around them. Why bring attention to either case? I figured the thread was started because Singuy is trying to rationalize his spending by seeing if other collectors spent the same or more.
