the origin of cape maker
I have purchase cape from other maker from the past for around the same price, and when the cape arrived, it was a piece of a fabric cut out like a bat shape. I was very disappointed..... then I decide to make it myself. didn't take too long, people start to ask us for our capes, then Crystal and I offer our service from there on.
our cape fabric is heavier, drape better, also all edges are sealed, and sewed lines to create more natural wrinkles at the insert. Depends where you live, the price of shipping can varies..... (gas goes up every year, along with shipping)
for those who own one of our work could clearly say its not just a piece of fabric (lots of detail and effort were shown on the cape) but for those who does not own one of our capes, feel free to duplicated our work. I know there is a guy here that pretty much copy everything we made (cape, pattern, poses, pictures, and even names?....etc) and sell it for cheaper price over sea......
as for $60? it must be a wire cape, but our regular cape is no where near that price : )
this is the last year we are offering this service, I do not really care who want to take on or copy this cape business, feel free to : )
while decide to make a cape of your own from scratch.... which involved
- passion and skills
- visiting official Dark Knight costume many times from many different locations (ticket alone and gas is out of our own pocket)
- actually see the cape with my own eyes and felt it with my own hands
- amount of time studying the cape from the movie pause and play over and over
- creating your own patterns (after many trail and errors)
- all edges are smoothly cut
- making sure the length of the cape looks like how the movies appeared
- quality fabric material and sealed
- wire cape (movie accurate fabric)
- packaged and service
- time making them our of our daily schedule
after all these steps, what price would you put on the market if people ask for your time and service?
