Wilson is a great QB, but if they lose Lynch, their offense will struggle next year. He is extremely important and even though RBs seem to grow on trees, he is a unique back. I also think the term choke is being used too loosely here.

That miracle catch was just that. Everyone can see not running the ball was a mistake. If they were gonna throw it, go to the tall guy. I didn't see it as a choke, more like a miracle play for NE to match the miracle catch by Sea. The GB game was a choke.

Brutal loss by the Hawks. Obviously, horrible play calling by Hawks coaches. Wilson is a very good QB and usually does a good job protecting the football but smart coaches always put their players in the best position to succeed. There was no reason for the ball to be in the air (and in the middle of the field) when you have 2nd and goal from the one. If you can't get 1 yard with Beast Mode or an athletic mobile QB like Wilson after trying to run it 3 straight times, you don't deserve to win the game. They had plenty of time and a time out in their pocket. At the very least they should have rolled Wilson out and put him on the perimeter so he had the option to run or pass. Space is very compacted from the one yard line. D doesn't have to cover as much ground and throwing over the middle of the field is always risky. Lots of traffic in there and plenty of defenders. The ball would have been better protected on the perimeter with Wilson having the option to run or throw the ball away safely if he didn't like what he saw. Truly a wasted opportunity for the Hawks.

All that said, it was a GREAT game to watch. Brady bounced back brilliantly. New England fans should be very proud of their team. They fought like hell and made some critical plays to pull out the win. Congrats. New England has been a top flight organization for over a decade now. Truly a dynasty in every sense of the word and they'll be in the mix again next year. They're just that good.

To the Seahaws fans and organization...tough loss but I'll never forget this years NFC championship game. I'll always be grateful for the way the Hawks sent GB packing and home for the playoffs. I'm still buzzing and feel all warm and fuzzy inside since Rodgers and company have been making vacation plans. Thanks and good luck next year. The Hawks are still a young and talented team with a lot of wins in their future. They are also a hell of a fun team to watch.

Lynch would have been the 3rd read so it would have been another couple seconds before he could have even been looked at.

True, but they had enough time and a timeout in their pocket. Obviously Monday Morning Quarterbacking here, but the risk of that rub play in the end zone is too high as there's too much traffic in such a condensed area. As someone else suggested, a roll out would have been a better call with a fade pass to "Hardball" Chris Matthews.

Last I saw on the ESPN ticker Seattle was prepared to offer Lynch an extension. Tough loss for Seattle and their fans; this one is going to sting for a LONG while.

This is the greatest thing ever... I will watch it everyday now....

Bevell was right on Lockette though. He kept his hands tucked the whole time. If he would have extended his arms like a good receiver he would have had it before butler had a chance to get there.

But another reason has to be Collinsworth's editorializing. I think he went way overboard there, and should have stuck more to just calling what was going on on the field rather than acting incredulous for about 10 minutes about how horrible the call was.

As soon as Wilson dropped back to pass I (and probably every Seahawk fan) jumped to my feet and shouted "WHY ARE YOU THROWING!???" I don't think Collinsworth went overboard, he simply verbalized what half the country was shocked about. It really was the single dumbest play call I have ever seen in the NFL.

I hope the Hawks can channel the rage of this loss to roar back and win five in a row.

Bevell's wikipedia entry:

"Darrell Wayne Bevell was an American football coach and former player. He was the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League, a position he held from the 2011 season until his murder following Super Bowl XLIX."

:lol :lol :lol

(I'm totally deleting my response if he DOES get murdered) :monkey1

Apparently Nationwide has already signed that kid for a whole series of buzzkill ads for upcoming events.

An excerpt from the commercial that will debut during the Academy Awards: "You lost a child and now want to escape by relaxing and watching the Oscars? Well just remember, I'm still dead because of your mistake."
