Yeah, probably, but IMO (and most people's opinion), the empire were basically Nazis, which explained the uniforms they wore, the name storm trooper (Nazi term), darth vader's design, the lack of women, lack of racial diversity, alien diversity, sterile environment, and mechanical environment. Having women as storm troopers, while ok...I guess, it just seems like a way for them to have more diversity in the films and attract more females to the product, which is fine from a business point of view, it's Disney after all...but it's a small detail that goes against what made the empire what it was, which is not supposed to be good or likable.

Which if you ask me is smart. Expand the story but keep to the story's roots. If the Empire expanded to include anyone and everyone because the Rebels hurt them so much in ROTJ makes sense. They're just going for numbers. Keeps it deep with potential. Can you imagine if the Empire rises again and then starts turning on the females, starts going back to their original OT roots and that breeds new Rebels?
I love Star Wars but I'm fine with JJ moving it forward. Certainly couldn't be more hurt than Uncle George moving his product backwards.

Just as long as the female storm troopers aren't fetishized into some sort of sexy storm troopers then I'm cool with it. We are talking about the sterile, faceless Empire after all and not Qadafi's Sexy Female Security detail.
