What a sweet thing to receive Lu. I would prize the homemade R2 way more than the SSC version. We are lucky to have women in our lives that encourage our collecting appetites.

I hadn't had a chance to share this with you guys. My awesome wife was planning on getting me R2 for Christmas, but obviously because of the strike, it didn't happen.

But she wanted to wrap something up for me to open, so this is what she did:

She made a cutout of R2 on foamcore with a stand and put it in a box.

How awesome is that? I feel like I already have R2! :lol

The cutout height is pretty accurate to the specs on the website (6.75"), maybe about 1/16th of an inch shy. I'd say the size is pretty good, but maybe is a teeny tiny bit short. It could stand to be another 1/4 to 1/2 inch taller I think.

So anyway, just thought I would show you guys how great my wife is! :)

Lu, you got a good one. :D

Agreed! My wife supports my habit too I'm happy to say - she actually bought me my first Star Wars Premium Format back in the day for a birthday. Its definitely nice to be with someone who's in touch with what you're into and willing to take that extra step to make you happy :)

Your wife rocks Lu.

As for R2D2, I'm disappointed they didn't do an extra dome with black instead of blue detailing to match the journey to Dagobah scene.

As you are aware, theres a preview of this little droid posted on Rebelscum.com. Rebelscum Star Wars Photo Archive
Im not feeling the seam truthfully.

The seam is disappointing. Especially when they managed not to have one on the Premium Format.

…And speaking of "seams"… ;)

Yeah, makes you Wonder how they could overlook such a blatant design mistake. Even if they could hide it on the prototype, they should have known factory painting wouldn't.

Not very flattering pics, but helpful.

Man, those are some poor figures now. Especially Yoda.

They clearly not photograph well to today's standards. It could almost justiify recent price hikes... almost.

Those seams are a bit disappointing but they look very visible in some pictures and nearly invisible in others. I'm still excited to get mine though!
