Great piece.
Glad I was able to pick out an undamaged one.
Repainting might turn into a future project.

Was odd to me that they packaged the base the way they did.
Up-side-down without much protecting the thin/delicate parts.
Which probably resulted in a lot of the small bit of base damage some find.
 
Until it actually says sold out, nobody should care. It'd be nice to see this thing start to hold its value
 
It appears to be sold out. Finally heard back from Sideshow today about a replacement for my Sauron (I emailed them on December 26 or 27 and it took them forever to get back to me) and they said there were no replacements. They offered me $100 refund. The shoulder armour on his chest is broke, the helmet on the base is broke and the hole in his foot for the peg in the base to slot into was drilled in the wrong spot so it won't actually fit in properly. Needless to say that's not acceptable and I'll be phoning them on Friday. So it looks like they may really be out of Sauron's at this point.

Didnt someone just buy one with less damage for like 3-500?

Tell them to bump that refund up to about half of the price. Ha.

It was $600, but the guy scared everyone away by saying damaged when it was pretty minor. I would send it back for just $100 off unless you can fix the issues.
 
I can reglue the helmet pieces on the base and live with the misaligned hole but can't do anything about the broken chest armour. Problem is I've built my pf collection around Sauron and if I send him back I won't get my $200 duty back so I'm kind of over a barrel here, again. I'll ask for more money back but if they won't give me more there's not much I can do.

I'm done with Sideshow now. I'll get the Saruman and Dark Rider pfs I have on flex and cash out my points on a Hot Toys and that will be it. Everything arrives broken, or with terrible paint jobs that look nothing like the pictures on the website, their support is slow and they offer a pittance in refunds for major damage. I'm tired of it. I should be excited to open my packages from them, not wondering what's going to be broken or how bad it will look. My money can be better spent at other companies, like Weta.
 
I think after the Alien busts and Pred masks, a few of us have at least turned SS into inhand purchases only.

Why won't they refund the duty costs? SS is not good about upping their refund offer. I asked one time and it was a whopping $5 more they could offer "as a one time courtesy":lol

SSC does not refund duty costs because they have nothing to do with these. Why would they refund something they didn't receive?
You need to go to your country's authorities with Fedex confirmation that the package has gone back to SSC.

It was implied that the question was about the customs office, sorry if that was confusing. Of course SS is not going to refund a customs tax. So I ask again, why can't you get the fees back?
 
I was not aware FedEX would reimburse me on my duty charges. Doesn't change anything though, as I said I've built my whole Middle-Earth collection around Sauron so I'm kind of stuck with him. Sideshow will replace the shoulder armour now so that's a good thing. No go on the base and no word on a better refund yet.
 
Yes, I have heard of others getting refunded, so that is an option. If they found a replacement part for you they probably won't offer any extra off.

That's it. I'll get the Saruman and Dark Rider I have on flex and cash out my rewards on a Hot Toys figure and wash my hands clean of Sideshow. Enough is enough.
