Agree. Unless someone else comes out with better ones which may never happen, these are the ones to own. I don't care if they keep making them or not as far as the older ones go, it won't affect my enjoyment of them one bit. At least you know they will not remake a "better" version like Hot Toys does all the time.

I'll never go off these statues either, Stingray, just like I never went off my Star Wars Attakus 1/5 scale statues when they stopped being made even though I was disappointed that we never got to have all 4 Sith lords represented. I think that with these LotR PFs there might be a few 'bitter' selling off of collections from people who are pissed that we never got to have the entire Fellowship represented in this scale. Which, I admit, is a real shame.

I've no doubt that Weta would be very interested in making a 1/4 scale line, eventually, but whether or not they'd do mixed media is another thing all together. I don't think that they'd go that route, personally, as it's already been done. But time will tell.

Yea, if they don't do mixed media at 1/4 I may not be interested anyway.
Sideshow still has the LotR stuff. They won't be doing g any Hobbit figures but at least we have a chance of getting some of the figures that still need the PF treatment

Its easy to think that dead lines get sold off, I figured the maquettes would do just that. But really, these maquettes are pretty hard to find on the secondary market and prices seem to have stabilized at a decent level for most pieces. In truth, I could be happy with a Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli set of maquettes as a display trilogy because they all fit well in terms of styling. My disappointment was with the variable styling (hobbits in orc armor) primarily. SS PFs do have this going for them: aragorn, frodo, gandalf, legolas all sort of have the FOTR vibe going on. The art direction of the maquettes was, to me, something of a head scratcher.

What about the Sideshow-Weta Pippin debacle. I still can't believe that he was made wearing his Gondorian armour. That must've annoyed quite a few people who had the rest of the fellowship in the 1/6 scale statue line & who were looking forward to finally being able to display the entire fellowship, FotR style, only to get a statue that looks completely out of place with the other 8 characters.

I never could understand why the creative team chose a RotK Pippin over a FotR. I don't own the Pippin statue, the only fellowship members I have in that line are Gandalf the Grey & Gandalf the White, so I'm certainly not knocking the statues quality in any way, but it must be something of an oddball statue to display as I think he'd only look right if displayed with a 1/6 scale Morgul Lord on Fell Beast statue.

Yep, I had the entire fellowship and couldn't wait to add Pippen and we got Gondor armor.......WTF?

One could argue the armor wasn't the primary issue with that particular design decision ;)

yea my sideshow payment was pushed back to feberuary, annoyed as I wanted Saruman paid off by ferbuary so I could get the city hunter arghh.

Oh well, my witch king statue aka the morgul lord arrived today, he is missing his main 2 allies, the wait begins

Very nice, LOTRfan85. :clap

That truly is my number one desired Premium Format to own.

If I may ask, how much did it set you back, buddy? If you don't like discussing money matters, as some people very uncomfortable about it, then I completely understand. I'm just curious what that beauty sells for at the moment.

Na I don't mind discussing prices, it cost me 599 dollars. Plus customs, it was the cheapest I could find. They are lurking about you can find one, only now can I collect with better work, so finding these pieces has been gutting they were cheaper on sideshow

I know how you feel, mate. Some of the aftermarket prices really are gutting for certain items. Especially the Morgul Lord Ex. & Lurtz Ex. in the LotR PF line. I had the Lurtz Ex. ordered at the time but cancelled it. :slap

I can see the recent Weta Balrog & Smaug statues being very expensive & tough to get hold of in the future. Assuming that the actual pieces turn out as good as they look in the preview pics, of course.

I may be set to miss out on the Saruman PF Ex. because I'm afraid to jump on the wait list for it in fear that it'll ship before the end of Feb when I wouldn't have any way to pay for it. I don't think that the Saruman PF Ex. will be anywhere near as tough or expensive to get hold of as the Morgul Lord or Lurtz but you never can tell, until it's too late.

DAMN you cancelled it, look at the price for him now.

I would not take that chance, I would get Saruman when he is available as sellers always overcharge in statues no matter what they are, the payments for me start in February and I should have the statue in march time. I was annoyed as I wanted Saruman finished by this month, oh well.

Like I say, when Sauron and Saruman both arrive, I am very excited on the size difference between all 3 since they all premium scale

TBH I don't think that Saruman goes anywhere near Berserker, or even Lurtz. Human based characters tend to not get that expensive (minus GTG). I just PO'd Saruman EX to develop my Isengard display and because he is one of the few EXes where the EX feature actually is better than REG IMHO.

Smaug and Balrog will probably be available for a long while
Weta isn't doing statues for scalpers with low ES like SSC or even worse, XM. They want to allow everybody to buy their stuff, even if the customers cannot afford it now.

I don't think the Saruman EX will be very expensive for a few years bit I could see it being desirable. I expect the Palantir to be disappointing and I could see a lot of people wanting the normal hand instead but I think the EX should be reasonably priced for quite awhile.

Don't count on getting one later, If you want one I would get it asap.

Depends. I am paying 500eur after customs and shipping and I am not sure if the EX is gonna EVER reach this value. It is just my admiration of Christopher Lee which makes me do this.
